9th Biomass Trade & Power Europe returns to Copenhagen on 24–25 February 2026. This year’s edition tackles the critical challenges and opportunities in the biomass value chain — from sustainable forestry and feedstock sourcing under EUDR and RED III, to the evolving post-2027, to the rise of BECCS, biocarbon, biochar and SAF as key decarbonisation pathways.

With global supply dynamics under pressure from trade policy shifts and growing industrial demand, join 100+ industry leaders, utilities, traders and innovators to shape the future of sustainable biomass in Europe.

The biomass value chain is at a crossroads. On one side, it continues to play a critical role in power generation, district heating, and industrial energy. On the other, it is increasingly being called upon to support negative emissions (BECCS, biochar), advanced fuels (SAF), and low-carbon pathways for new energy-intensive sectors.

As AI and digital infrastructure drive unprecedented growth in power demand, data centres are emerging as a new frontier for low-carbon energy and carbon removal integration. This shift connects directly back to the biomass industry — as a provider of dispatchable renewable energy, biogenic CO2 for removals, and sustainable feedstock for SAF and bioproducts.

That is why CarbonSmart Digital Futures (26 Feb) has been designed as a natural post-conference extension to the 9th Biomass Trade & Power Europe. Together, these two events connect established biomass markets with emerging digital energy demand and carbon removal solutions, ensuring participants gain a 360° view of biomass, energy transition, and sustainable digital infrastructure in Europe.

Key Highlights:

  1. Sustainable Biomass Supply Chains – navigating EUDR, RED III, GHG compliance and forestry sustainability.
  2. Market Disruptions & Trade Flows – UK policy, US tariffs, and global pellet trade dynamics.
  3. Post-2027 Outlook – new regimes in the UK and EU, and implications for biomass power and heat.
  4. Biocarbon, Biochar & Advanced Carriers – scaling industrial use in steel, cement, and SAF production.
  5. BECCS & Carbon Markets – the emerging role of biomass in negative emissions and removals.
  6. AI Energy Surge – how data centres are reshaping global energy demand.
Delegates benefit not only from two full days of networking and market intelligence, but also from the unique chance to connect with participants from the CarbonSmart Digital Futures track during joint sessions and the combined networking reception on 25 February.

13:30 - 17:00 Combined Agenda (9th Biomass Trade & Power Europe & CarbonSmart Digital Futures)

CarbonSmart Digital Futures (25-26 Feb 2026) will bring together AI leaders, data centre operators, hyperscalers, utilities, renewable energy providers, and carbon removal innovators to shape the future of sustainable digital infrastructure. As AI and cloud computing accelerate global energy demand, the challenge is how to scale low-carbon and renewable energy supply, carbon removal strategies, and efficiency innovations that can power data centres at net-zero. From green PPAs, cooling efficiency, and waste-heat reuse to BECCS, biochar, DAC, and advanced carbon credit markets, this conference offers a unique platform to align digital growth with climate goals.

Preceded by the 9th Biomass Trade & Power Europe (24 Feb), participants can gain deep insight into the biomass value chain before connecting to the wider digital + carbon removal ecosystem.

Key Highlights

  1. Data Centres & Energy Decarbonisation – Pathways to reduce emissions in one of Europe’s fastest-growing energy demand sectors.
  2. AI & Digitalisation for Net-Zero – Smart energy management, predictive analytics, and carbon accounting innovations.
  3. Carbon Markets & Compliance Readiness – Updates on EU ETS, voluntary markets, and corporate net-zero procurement trends.
  4. Renewables & Grid Integration – Scaling wind, solar, and storage to power digital infrastructure reliably.
  5. Scaling Carbon Removal Technologies – Deep-dives into biochar, DAC, mineralisation, and marine CDR pathways.
  6. Financing & Investment Landscape – Capital flows into low-carbon infrastructure, digital solutions, and CDR projects.

The program kicks off with a shared lunch and joint opening on 25 February alongside delegates from the Biomass Trade & Power Europe conference, encouraging cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.
