The growing adoption of AI and the need for data centres has dramatically increased energy consumption, and by extension carbon emissions.

A recent report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) projects data centres will use double the electricity by 2030 — and that's driven by AI.

As admitted by a data centre operator, finding  consistent and reliable source of power across the APAC region while also meeting sustainability targets is challenging.

Data centre providers are increasingly looking at onsite electricity generation or forming partnerships with renewable energy developers to address this challenge.

Renewable energy interest and adoption remain high among data centers but can they deliver the quantity and reliability levels data centers require ?

Many APAC data centres currently use a hybrid approach — grid power (often gas, coal based) + renewable.

As storage technologies progress, can we expect, full decarbonization  through renewables + storage + regional clean energy grids ?

Can the renewable energy projects keep up with the pace of DC investments in the region ?

Supported by MDEC ( Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation ) CMT’s Data Centres – Towards Net Zero has lined up an expert panel from energy providers, data centres, RECs traders and technology companies to focus on future proofing the industry and aligning to the goals for a sustainable future

Key Highlights:
  • Investment trends and expansion strategies of the data center market in Asia, and market opportunities
  • Path to net zero – certifications & reporting standards for data centres
  • MDEC’s vision for sustainable and green data centres in Malaysia
  • TNB’s sustainable energy solutions & grid strategy for high-density data centres
  • Data Centres panel on driving clean energy transition in the region
  • Clean energy perspective from Solar, nuclear, hydropower, wind
  • Boosting REC demand from data centres for carbon neutrality
And many more.
