Shiro Matsuzaki is Managing Partner of Japan Airlines Ventures (JALV), the Silicon Valley-based venture capital arm of Japan Airlines (JAL). He is one of the members overseeing the JAL Innovation Funds (I & II), investing in frontier technologies that address societal challenges including decarbonization, ocean health, and energy transition. Shiro led JAL’s early-stage investment in Captura and has been instrumental in building the company’s Japan market presenc. Prior to his current role, Shiro spent over a decade at JAL across software development, global alliance strategy at oneworld, and corporate venturing. He founded W-PIT, JAL’s official Corporate Venturing arm. He holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management and a degree from Waseda University.

Momoka Yanagi is a Senior Associate in the Carbon Solution Business Unit at Sumitomo Corporation, where she develops carbon credit projects with international partners, with a focus on nature-based solutions and mangrove restoration. She began her career in Sumitomo Corporation’s forest resources business, working on the company’s forest management in New Zealand and related trading operations. She later spent some years in Shanghai, focusing on hydrogen-related business development while exploring opportunities in China’s carbon market, including development of potential CCER projects.

Shintaro Yamanaka joined RENOVA, Inc in early 2024, and is now holding multiple assignments including the role of General Manager of Decarbonization Solutions Promotion Department under Green Transformation Division, Acting Head of HSE and Senior Advisor for Governance and Compliance.  He also heads the CEO's office.

Prior to RENOVA, Shintaro was with Marubeni Corporation's overseas power department.

Mr. Takada has been working as a government official for the Ministry of Finance (MOF) since 1995. He has had a wide range of experience in policy-making at the heart of the government including public finance, tax, trade policies and financial services. During over 20 years of his career he spent 5 years in the UK: study at Cambridge and LSE (1997-99), and secondment to HM Treasury (the UK finance ministry, 2003-06) where he worked on financial regulation, investment market policies and public spending.

Most recently in 2024-26, Mr. Takada served as the Director at the GX (Green Transformation) Acceleration Agency which was launched by the Japanese Government in July 2024 to accelerate decarbonisation and green transformation in Japan and beyond.

In August 2026, Mr. Takada returned to the MOF as the Deputy Director-General of the Customs and Tariff Bureau to lead policies related to tariffs, custom controls, international trade and national economic security.

Alongside his official jobs, in his private capacity, Mr. Takada launched the Green Finance Network Japan (GFNJ) in 2018 as its Secretary General. The GFNJ is an informal network that brings together key players on green finance in Japan from both public and private sectors and provides a platform for collaborating with international stakeholders.

Mr. Takada received a Bachelor degree in Law (University of Tokyo), a Master degree in Law (Cambridge University) and an MBA (Imperial College London).

Torrey Sanseverino is a specialist in NBS (nature based solutions) in carbon markets with extensive experience supporting buyers, investors and developers with their carbon markets strategies. At AFRY, we combine carbon market expertise with forestry, financial, and operational experience to advise carbon market funders in risk management. Prior to AFRY, Torrey was a Senior Manager at BeZero Carbon, prefaced by a career in remote sensing for environmental change in the private sector and an NGO.

Hiromi Kawamata is Head of the Climate Change Policy Group at the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). Responsibilities include climate and industrial policy, greenhouse gas accounting, and international standardisation activities related to steel decarbonisation. Current work includes engagement with Japanese government initiatives, the GX Steel framework, GHG Protocol revisions, and international standards development concerning carbon accounting and low-emission materials.

Harish Anchan is the Founder and Senior Director of Earthfit Solutions Pvt Ltd in Pune, India. He works on clean cooking and biochar carbon projects.

His current work includes Earthfit’s school kitchen cookstove project in Tanzania and how it may fit under the Joint Crediting Mechanism between Tanzania and Japan.

Previously, she served as Head of Asia Sustainable Finance at WWF, working with financial institutions, regulators and policymakers to advance sustainable finance best practices. Kristina has collaborated with governments, development finance institutions and private sector actors globally and brings extensive international experience across Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Hara is a community builder for climate tech innovators and enablers. She is an ex-VC investor who now focuses on building the field and market ecosystem that elevate entire categories of entrepreneurs and researchers. She was most recently the cofounder and head of investments of Third Derivative, a global climate tech acceleration platform with RMI.

At Third Derivative, she led the build out of an entrepreneurial support ecosystem that included 18 climate tech funds, 12 leading corporate open innovation groups, and more than two dozen foundations and family offices that deployed flexible catalytic capital.

Prior to that, she led and supported energy, mobility and industrial sector venture capital investments at Braemar Energy Ventures and was a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Hara holds a MS in Atmosphere and Energy Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from WPI. She grew up in Shanghai, China and now calls New York City home.

Kenneth Juul is Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Carbon Centric AS. He has close to 20 years of experience from the Norwegian renewable energy and oil and gas industries and also has background in the Norwegian Armed Forces. At Carbon Centric he leads commercial development, regulatory engagement and CDR sales. The company that develops, builds, owns and operates carbon capture plants at industrial emission sources. Carbon Centric develops a portfolio of carbon capture assets in the Nordics, targeting both the CDR market and CCU applications, and has sold carbon removal credits to buyers and aggregators, including companies like Climeworks and DNV. The company's first capture plant has been in operation since September 2025, currently delivering captured CO2 for utilisation, with conversion to permanent storage under evaluation, at a capture capacity of 10,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Mitch Kobayashi is Head of Corporate Sustainability Group at Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd. He leads the Group’s sustainability strategy, focusing on decarbonisation, Scope 3 emissions reduction, and the development of green logistics solutions. Having held leadership roles in Japan, the UK, and the US, he brings extensive international experience in sustainability, business development, and supply chain transformation.

Based in Adelaide Australia, James is a Managing Partner at 123Carbon BV, where he oversees their Environmental Attribute Registry business for the Asia Pacific Japan region. James is also head of new industries, where he is bringing the same Environmental Attribute Certificate  registry benefits that 123Carbon offers their multi modal transport customers to other hard to abate industries such as green Steel, green Cement & Concrete and green Chemicals and Fertilisers. Prior to 123Carbon, James had a long career in commodity risk management and is a veteran of 3 start-ups, including a company he cofounded  'SAP GreenToken',. James holds 3 engineering degrees and an MBA from Adelaide University.

Alvin Lim is the CEO and Co-founder of Climate Bridge International, where he leads the international business for Climate Bridge Group, one of China’s largest carbon finance companies. Founded in 2006, Climate Bridge oversees and finances carbon projects globally, having managed over 500 CDM, Verra, Gold Standard, and CCER projects and transacted in over 100 million tonnes of carbon credits.

Prior to joining Climate Bridge International, Alvin was the Head of Asia Environmental Products at Morgan Stanley, where he led the development of the environmental products franchise. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of the Enterprise Strategy team at GIC (Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund), where he supported GIC’s Sustainable Investing initiatives, developed frameworks to integrate sustainability practices in the investment process, and authored several white papers on the role of carbon markets for asset owners.

Alvin is a member of the Expert Advisory Group of the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI) and a Senior Fellow at the National University of Singapore Centre for Governance and Sustainability.

He holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Major in Finance from the National University of Singapore, where he was recognized as a Global Merit Scholar.

Dai Miyata is the General Manager of the Zero-Emission Shipping Strategy Team within the Corporate Sustainability Division at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL). In this role, Dai oversees the planning and development of strategies for adopting zero-emission and low-carbon marine fuels, addressing both voluntary market demands and relevant regulations.

Prior to this position, which he assumed in April 2025, Dai was instrumental in the business development of MOL's carbon insetting program. This initiative culminated in the launch of the "BLUE ACTION NET-ZERO ALLIANCE" in February 2025, a group-wide carbon inset program, following two years of investigation as a member of Tanker Unit 2.

Masaaki Nagamura specializes in international norm setting on climate change and natural disaster risk financing in the Corporate Planning Department of Tokio Marine Holdings.

He served as an inaugural member of the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). In addition, he currently serves as a private sector sherpa supporting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers’ Process on disaster risk financing and other regional policy priorities.

Oori Weisshaus, Ph.D., is an experienced technology and innovation executive with more than two decades of experience in research, development, and commercialization across biotechnology, genomics, water, and climate-tech. His work focuses on translating advanced science into scalable solutions for climate resilience, water stewardship, and environmental restoration.

He earned his Ph.D. in Genetics from the Faculty of Life Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2011. Following his doctorate, Oori led numerous research and product-development programs applying advanced computational and genomic technologies to crop improvement and breeding, working with leading Israeli bioinformatics and genomics companies.

In 2014, Oori joined the founding team of BlueGreen Water Technologies, a global water and climate-tech company developing innovative solutions for water monitoring, remediation, ecosystem restoration, and climate mitigation.

As Head of Innovation and Climate, Oori leads the development and commercialization of technologies designed to address large-scale challenges at the intersection of water and climate. His work focuses on improving water security and ecosystem health through advanced water-quality monitoring, harmful algal bloom remediation, remote sensing, data analytics, and nature-based restoration. He also leads the development of climate solutions that link measurable water-stewardship outcomes with carbon removal, methane-emission reduction, and environmental finance, helping scale restoration projects while delivering long-term ecological and climate benefits.

Max Zeller is Founder & Partner at Carbon Removal Partners (CRP). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from ETH Zurich. He obtained the latter after conducting profound research on credit quality in the Voluntary Carbon Market.
 

Max founded Carbon Removal Partners (CRP) with the aim of channeling catalytic capital into the emerging Carbon Management industry. His past professional experiences include Urban Connect, Airbus and Climeworks.

Brad is a commercial strategist and coalition builder helping high-potential climate solutions navigate the path from early concept to scale. He currently leads the Market Development Program at Cascade Climate, where he builds programs that bring together first-mover buyers, governments, civil society, project developers, and industry to accelerate progress on carbon removal (CDR) and near-term warming (non-CO2 "super pollutant" mitigation).

Previously, Brad worked to bring first-of-a-kind climate projects into the world at category-creating startups in the agricultural and ocean sectors:

- First at Indigo Ag, developing and bringing to market the first agricultural carbon credit and supply chain insetting projects generated from working land;
- Later at Running Tide, building the first open ocean carbon removal protocols, leading policy and governance for climate intervention in the public commons, and developing novel partnerships with leading research institutes, standards setters, and market makers to advance the nascent CDR field. 

He started his career working on commercial strategy at AB InBev, and before that spent time in Geneva learning how the largest IGOs and NGOs take on global challenges like climate change. He is a regular speaker and guest lecturer on climate action, including at the United Nations, U.C. Berkeley, Stanford, Wharton, Harvard, Yale, and SXSW.

I am a Principal Scientist at Forest Carbon, a Singapore-based developer of nature-based carbon projects across Southeast Asia, where I lead the science behind our forest and peatland conservation and restoration programs. I lead our work on geospatial and remote sensing pipelines for aboveground biomass estimation, canopy height mapping, and deforestation monitoring. I am also an affiliate researcher with the NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions (CNCS) and an adjunct lecturer at NUS, teaching Geospatial Data Analysis on the Masters in Data Science for Sustainability. My background spans engineering, environmental science, and forest ecology, with over a decade of experience in remote sensing, GIS, and ecological modelling — from mapping forest change in the Himalayas to integrating LiDAR, radar, and optical data for carbon estimation in Southeast Asia’s forest landscapes.

Takayuki Kageyama established Carbon EX and lead the company as Co-CEO. His company has established its own carbon credits trading platform, which has over 1800 companies registered, being one of the largest trading platform in Japan.

Carbon EX is joint venture between ASUENE and SBI holdings, established in 2023 June. Through out the 3 years, not only expanded the business on their platform, they have expanded the business into carbon credit generation consulting, carbon data services, and carbon trading/offset API services.

Takayuki Kageyama also serves as Executive Officer and Head of Asia Pacific at Asuene.

Neelesh Agrawal is the CEO of Calculus Carbon, a Temasek portfolio investment bank building the leading project-finance franchise for Nature-based Solutions across the Global South. Calculus was founded to structure NbS transactions with the discipline of established infrastructure asset classes, separating the offtake from the financier and building bankable capital stacks against long-term contracted revenue. Prior to Calculus, Neelesh was an asset manager for a USD 2.2 billion real estate investment vehicle sponsored by CPPIB, preceded by an investment banking career raising equity and structured debt for infrastructure assets across wind energy, hospitality, roads, and telecom.

Robin Hüdepohl is Head of Decarbonisation Management & Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Sales at E.ON Energy Projects, where he is responsible for the commercial development of industrial clients’ decarbonisation solutions, including compensation mechanism, Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Carbon Capture, Storage and Utilisation (CCUS). Throughout his career, Robin has built new markets and commercial organisations across ClimateTech, Enterprise and Media Technology, holding leadership roles at E.ON, Carbonfuture, LinkedIn, Statista and The Trade Desk. Combining experience from both the supply and demand sides of the CDR market, he understands the priorities of project developers, technology providers, policymakers and corporate buyers and helps align them to accelerate the deployment of durable CDR at scale.

Yasuyuki Sakurai is Senior Manager in the Decarbonization Taskforce at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, where he focuses on green product development and aligning commercial strategies with global shipping decarbonisation. With more than 20 years at the company across commercial and leadership roles in Asia and Europe, his current work spans reduced-carbon shipping services, biofuels, EU ETS, net-zero end-to-end solutions and green shipping corridors. He also supports industry collaboration on GHG emissions accounting and the development of solutions that help customers reduce Scope 3 emissions from maritime transportation.

Win Sim is Verra’s Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific. He leads strategic engagement and collaboration with government partners to advance the development of high-integrity carbon markets and promote the adoption of Verra’s standards and programs. His work focuses on policy dialogue and technical engagement, including supporting governments on registry interoperability, Article 6.2 implementation and capacity-building initiatives.

Rui Takahashi is Deputy Team Leader of the Marketing & Trade Team in the Carbon Solution Business Unit at Sumitomo Corporation. He is responsible for the marketing, procurement, and trading of a wide range of environmental commodities, including J-Credits and voluntary carbon credits, while supporting corporate customers in their decarbonization strategies and carbon credit utilization.Prior to joining the Carbon Solution Business Unit, he worked in Sumitomo Corporation's corporate sustainability division, where he was engaged in climate-related target setting, sustainability disclosures, and engagement with ESG investors. He later transitioned into the carbon business and has since focused on carbon credit commercialization, customer solutions, and market development across both domestic and international carbon markets.

Fabio Ferrari is CEO and co-founder of aDryada, where he works alongside the executive team to define the company's long-term strategic vision, accelerate its industrial and commercial development, and support its engagement with strategic partners and investors.  He brings more than 30 years of experience in creating, developing and scaling breakthrough technology markets.  Since 2020, he has served as an Operating Partner at Ardian, where he has supported the Infrastructure team in the development of hydrogen investments, notably contributing to the creation of Hy24, the world's leading clean hydrogen infrastructure investment platform.  As Founder and former CEO of Symbio, one of Europe's leading hydrogen fuel cell companies, Fabio was instrumental in establishing the hydrogen mobility market in France and across Europe. He pioneered the captive fleet business model based on Public-Private Partnerships, helping drive its adoption by public authorities and regional governments.  Before entering the hydrogen sector, Fabio spent nearly two decades in telecommunications, where he successfully launched and developed innovative businesses in call centers and Voice over IP through leadership roles at Comtac, Soditel, MG2, NetCentrex and Comverse.

Dr. Julio Friedmann is Chief Scientist at Carbon Direct. He works directly with clients, the Science team, and the leadership of Carbon Direct to solve major technical challenges around carbon management and CO2 removal.

Dr. Friedmann recently served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Fossil Energy at the Department of Energy where he was responsible for DOE’s R&D program in advanced fossil energy systems, carbon capture, and storage (CCS), CO2 utilization, and clean coal deployment. More recently, he was a Senior Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia. He has held positions at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, including Chief Energy Technologist.

Dr. Friedmann is one of the most widely known and authoritative experts in the U.S. on carbon removal (CO2 drawdown from the air and oceans), CO2 conversion and use (carbon-to-value), hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, and carbon capture and sequestration.

Paul Zakkour worked extensively on the design of policies, regulation and monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) for integrating carbon storage technologies into EU and UN climate policy and carbon pricing over the period 2002-2012.

His recent work has focussed on policy design, MRV and accounting for negative emissions, carbon removals, CO2 utilization and the treatment of enhanced sinks under the Paris Agreement.

Paul has been a Director at Carbon Counts since 2008. Prior to this, he spent six years with ERM’s Climate Change Practice.

He is also Technical Advisor on Carbon Management at the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics, and serves the UNFCCC Secretariat through its Roster of Experts on Article 6.4.

Paul also has broad experience in climate policy across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Middle East and Africa, covering carbon pricing programmes, low carbon project finance and preparing nationally determined contributions (NDCs).

Steve Oldham is CEO of Captura, where he leads the commercialization of the company’s Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) climate solution and the expansion of its electrodialysis technology into industrial sectors. His career spans climate, robotics, and aerospace, with a consistent focus on bringing breakthrough technologies to market.

Captura’s DOC technology harnesses the planet’s most powerful, natural carbon absorber—the ocean—to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere while protecting ocean health. Under Steve’s leadership, Captura has rapidly advanced DOC from lab concept to real-world deployment, scaling the technology 1,000-fold and securing investment, partnership and offtake from industry leaders such as Japan Airlines, MOL, Hitachi, and Equinor. Steve is also leading Captura’s expansion into critical industrial markets, with the company now manufacturing its DOC-proven membranes and electrodialysis systems for lithium extraction, water treatment, and long-duration energy storage.

Previously, Steve was CEO of Carbon Engineering, where he helped establish Direct Air Capture (DAC) as a credible, scalable climate solution. He oversaw significant company growth, major funding rounds, technology licensing agreements, and some of the world’s first large-scale carbon removal offtake deals. His advocacy was instrumental in elevating DAC in global climate policy, business, and public discourse.

In his current role, Yuki Nakamura leads sustainability strategies for domestic and overseas forest management and timber procurement at one of Japan’s largest forest owners and wood consumers and a major global pulp and paper company. Through the International Sustainable Forestry Coalition (ISFC), he develops natural capital accounting approaches to quantify and value forest ecosystem services and natural capital attributes, including carbon storage and biodiversity, and translate them into business value.

He began his career through social forestry projects in Ecuador, Bangladesh, and Thailand, before joining the Japan Forest Technology Association, supporting Japan’s Forestry Agency, local governments, and JICA. He later worked as Sustainability Compliance Reviewer at Ingka/IKEA and served as Country Manager, Japan at Preferred by Nature.

He holds an MSc in Forest Ecology and Management from the University of Freiburg and a BSc in Environmental Studies, Policy Option, from SUNY-ESF. He has also served as Lead Author of the Country-Specific Guidelines and as a Committee Member of the Expert Working Group for the Timber Due Diligence Guidelines under Japan’s Clean Wood Act.

Götz Martin is a forester by training, holding a PhD in Forestry Science. After an early career stint in the pulp and paper industry, he joined McKinsey and later Pöyry Management Consulting, advising on basic materials, forestry, agriculture, sustainability, and economic development across emerging markets.

In 2015, Götz moved to Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), where he built and led the Sustainability Implementation team, driving landscape-level conservation (HCV/HCS), FPIC-based community engagement, and responsible sourcing. His role later expanded to include climate change strategy and the development of GAR’s bioeconomy initiatives.

Since 2024, Götz has led GAR’s Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and biochar portfolio, overseeing large-scale ARR/ANR, peatland protection, carbon project development, and the company’s emerging biochar CDR business. He focuses on combining scientific rigour, community partnership, and commercially viable climate solutions across GAR’s operations.
