Hans Friese is a native of Brazil and is the CEO of Ciranda Inc., a USA company he co- founded with his wife Joan Bryers-Friese in 1994, an importer and distributor of organic ingredients to the food and body care industry.

Ciranda Inc. pioneered certified organic tapioca starch in 1998 in cooperation with a group of small farmers in southeast Brazil near Iguacu Falls, thus becoming a major worldwide distributor and innovator of a wide range of organic starch base ingredients for the food industry.

Mr. Dylan Ong

Dylan Ong is the Director of HLH Agriculture Division, a wholly owned subsidiary of HLH Group Limited that is listed on the Mainboard of Singapore Stock Exchange. HLH Group is a property and real estate developer in Singapore over the last 25 years and has expanded its operations into the Kingdom of Cambodia since 2008. Currently, the company has completed the development of a 10,000 hectares cassava plantation farm with starch production facilities in the Kingdom. It is also developing its first freehold mixed development project called D’Seaview, that has a combination of 737 residential units and 64 commercial units project.

Prof. Achmad Subagio had been developing a technology to produce bland flour from cassava called “MOCAF” which is applicable for substitution of wheat and rice flour. Combining with his attention on small-medium enterprise, he is establishing some factories for “MOCAF” in a cluster industry concept.  He has received awards from various institutions both private and government, including various ministries and presidents of the Republic of Indonesia.

Simon Bentley

Simon has 18 years of experience analysing and understanding commodity markets. He is a director of Commoditia, an advisory business based in Singapore focussed on supporting investors in, and traders and processors of South East Asian commodities.

Previously, as a Vice President of Invenio, part of Olam International, Mr Bentley led the research for a macro commodity fund trading agricultural commodity futures using fundamental models. Before this, and as a Director of LMC International, Mr Bentley led for many years a team advising multinational agribusinesses, energy and chemical companies, as well as governments, on all aspects of carbohydrate and protein markets. Through many different assignments he has developed a deep understanding of the fundamental structural factors underpinning agricultural commodity prices, costs, trade and production, which he uses to help clients position themselves in the face of changing market conditions.

Lief Chiang joined FAR (Food & Agribusiness Research), Rabobank Shanghai Branch as Grains & Oilseeds Analyst in 2015.

Lief has 10 years working experience in agriculture-related industries. Before joining Rabobank, Lief was the Senior Market Analyst & Project Manager in Business Development Department, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) since 2011, participating in a series of Greenfield projects and M&A deals in China. Prior to that, as an ex-employee of Rabobank, he worked as FAR analyst and Information Officer from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, Lief used to work for Frost & Sullivan, as the industry analyst and consultant, focusing on Chemicals, Materials and Food industries.

Lief holds a Master Degree in Economy from University Cork College, National University of Ireland and a Master Degree in Business and Management from University of Northumbria, United Kingdom. Besides, he is also a CFA Charterholder (CFA stands for Chartered Financial Analyst).

Mr. Ho is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Thai Wah Public Company Ltd, responsible for developing the company’s long term vision as a leading starch and consumer foods company in Southeast Asia. Since its founding in 1947, Thai Wah has been a leading pioneer in the starch and food industry now expanding its footprint to Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and China. The company currently has over 10 operations across 4 countries, driven by its commitment to portfolio innovation and operational excellence. From 2010 – 2015, Mr Ho was the Executive Director and Country Head China for Banyan Tee Holdings, playing an leadership role in growing Banyan Tree’s regional headquarters in Shanghai and helping the brand establish its position as the leading luxury hospitality brand in China. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ho worked with the global consultancy Bain & Company Inc. in their New York, Hong Kong and China offices, harnessing his experience in private equity, organizational structure and strategy.
Mr. Ho serves as a mentor to the Kairos ASEAN society and is actively involved in entrepreneurship and venture capital. He has served on the board of United Nations Women Singapore, Wharton China Alumni Club and is also a Captain of the Singapore Armed Forces.
In 2017, in recognition of Thai Wah Group’s sustainability and community efforts across the region, Mr Ho was awarded the “Outstanding Leader in Asia” award at the 4th Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability Awards held in Singapore.
Mr. Ho has a BSC in Economics (Honors) from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of the AMP program from CEIBS, China’s leading business school.

Hernan Ceballos

Hernán Ceballos obtained his degree in Agronomy from National University of Cordoba (Argentina) and a Ph.D. in plant breeding from Cornell University. Initially he worked as maize breeder at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico and Colombia. Since 1999 is the cassava breeder at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) based in Colombia. He has been involved in the release of several inbred lines of maize as well as improved cassava varieties. He has identified several starch and plant type mutations in cassava. Ceballos has published more than a hundred research articles in international referred journals, chapters in several books and also edited three books.

Panithan Chokchindachai, started from helping the family business on buying crude cassava, processed and cassava and to producing it as granular pellets sent to Europe for use as animal feed. To date, it is doing cassava trading in Lao PDR and export to China. He is the president of Asia Agronomy Company Limited.  The company is promoting the farmers to cultivate and sell cassava to the company. Mr. Reathmana Leang works for UNDP-Cambodia as manager of the project promoting export of cassava based products from Cambodia to global markets. Currently, he is supporting the Ministry of Commerce to draft the national cassava sector policy, and cooperate with various stakeholders to improve cassava value chains and market development. Before joining with UNDP, he worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Embassy of Australia in Phnom Penh on infrastructure and other organizations on local economic development.
