Koji Kojima is a Visiting Researcher at the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI). He drives working group activities for developing the CDR market at the Japan CDR Coalition, where he also played a key role in the coalition's launch. He focuses on fostering a robust CDR ecosystem in Japan and the ASEAN region.
Prior to the MRI, he served in several Deputy Director roles in the Government of Japan, focusing on policy areas including industry innovation and climate change. His responsibilities included accelerating innovation in the agri-food sector (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) and driving climate measures for the chemical industry (Ministry of International Trade and Industry, now METI).
As Research Director at the MRI, he previously led research and consulting for decarbonization solutions. He leverages this experience integrating technology, business, and policy to accelerate the scaling of the CDR market.
He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Science from Nagoya University and a B.A. in Economics from Keio University. He is currently a PhD student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, researching CDR solutions for data center decarbonization.
