Today SOCOCIM INDUSTRIES assists its customers and partners with sound advice and a wide range of cements, up to 3.5 million tons per year, which responds effectively to all construction needs. It is also a point of honor to the societal aspect with the creation of the SOCOCIM Foundation which is involved with the Senegalese associations and is involved in economic projects, cultural and social.

Founded in 1998, LES CIMENTS DU SAHEL is still a newly borne company. His creed, around which he still articulates his strategic development plan, remains the satisfaction of the demand for cement in Senegal and in the sub-region to the happiness of all parties; customers, states, shareholders and lenders.

Its advent happens after a long period of "shortage" observed on the market, the main consequences of which were, in addition to the exaggerated price increase, the notorious slowdown of the buildings noted in the framework of the social housing and that of infrastructures which were suppose to sustain the economic and social development of underdeveloped countries.

From the beginning of its conception, its promoter Mr. Latffalah LAYOUSSE, who has chosen to put forward the Senegalese genius in his immediate entourage, has been implementing a sustainable strategy development plan to bring the company LES CIMENTS DU SAHEL to the best position a cement company could be: a state-of-the-art and a high-tech cement plant in line with international environmental standards.

>Its initial cost of 100 Million Euros, jump to 300 million Euros with the extension of the capacity of production three (3) years after the date of its first production. LES CIMENTS DU SAHEL represents the largest private investment ever made in Senegal since independence. Currently, the company is about to realize its second extension of its production capacity with a total investment of 350 million Euros.

The specific identity of the company LES CIMENTS DU SAHEL lies in the major interest that its promoter Mr. Latfallah LAYOUSSE, also CEO and chief executive of the company, grants for the protection of the environment and the promotion of social works.

Regarding the environmental aspects in particular, the company has implemented a real policy on the site and throughout its neighborhoods, to prevent nuisances of all kinds and preserve natural resources. It has also created a nursery of more than 100,000 plants of all species to contribute in its own way to the reforestation of the Sahelian zone.

 

The Intercem group has been a successful player in the cement industry since the 1970s. Intercem provides all services in the cement plant construction industry from a single source and has also worked in close partnership with global logistics and procurement companies for many years. 

The plant manufacturers Intercem Engineering GmbH and Intercem Installation GmbH, both based in Oelde, and Intercem Cement AG, Zug, Switzerland, are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Swiss-based Intercem Holding AG, Zug.
