Cementing the Future: Driving Decarbonisation, Trade, Logistics & AI

The 25th Asia Cementrade Summit returns to bring together cement producers, traders, investors, technology providers and industry leaders from across Asia and beyond. As the cement industry enters a period of rapid transformation, the Summit will examine the key forces shaping the region — from new capacity and investment opportunities to changing trade flows, freight volatility, decarbonisation and the growing impact of AI and digitalisation.

With Southeast Asia, India and the Pacific continuing to attract investment and infrastructure development, the Summit provides a platform to understand where markets are heading, where capital is flowing and how cement companies are preparing for a lower-carbon future.

Key Highlights:

  • Markets & Investment Updates - Discover new projects, capacity expansions, investments, market outlooks and growth opportunities across Southeast Asia, India and the Pacific.
  • Trade & Tariffs - Examine the impact of US tariffs, shifting trade flows and changing global market dynamics on Asia's cement industry.
  • Freight & Supply Chains - Assess rising logistics costs, geopolitical disruptions, freight volatility and raw-material pressures — and explore strategies for building more resilient supply chains.
  • Decarbonisation & Net-Zero - Explore practical pathways towards a lower-carbon cement industry, from emissions reduction strategies and energy efficiency to financing the net-zero transition.
  • Alternative Fuels & Low-Carbon Cement - Examine the growing adoption of alternative fuels, LC3, clinker reduction, carbon-footprint measurement and low-carbon certification as producers respond to evolving customer and regulatory requirements.
  • AI & Digitalisation - Discover how AI and digital technologies are transforming cement manufacturing, process optimisation, trading, logistics and supply-chain management.

The pace of investment across the region highlights the scale of opportunity and transformation underway.

Papua New Guinea is opening a new chapter in its cement industry with the development of its first integrated domestic facility for quicklime, clinker and cement. The Central Lime and Central Projects is eyeing full-scale operations in the first half 2027. Once into full operation, the project is expected to slash the domestic retail prices of cement, including placing a complete stop of imported cement products.

In India, UltraTech Cement reported in 2026 that it had surpassed 200 MTPA of cement capacity in India, with more than ₹16,000 crore of projects under execution and its consolidated capacity targeted to exceed 240 MTPA.

Vietnam has recently launched a pilot carbon market, opening new opportunities for green growth.  Assoc. Prof., Dr. Luong Duc Long, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA), said the pilot allocation of emissions quotas will encourage cement manufacturers to modernize production, improve efficiency and strengthen competitiveness while preparing for international climate-related trade measures such as the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the cement industry is accelerating its transition to a lower-carbon future, with a national decarbonisation roadmap designed to reduce emissions while supporting continued infrastructure development and economic growth.

These developments illustrate a broader trend across Asia — capacity is expanding, supply chains are evolving and investment is increasingly linked to efficiency and decarbonisation.
