Nopadol Suanprasert received his B.Eng. in Industrial Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and an MBA from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He worked in Australia for Unilever Australia Pty.,Ltd. Then he emigrated to Canada where he worked for Nortel Canada. After many years in Canada he returned to Thailand, his home country. In Thailand, he worked for industries and development finances. Among them were the UK’s Commonwealth Development Corporation, the Canadian International Development Agency. His career path changed when Thailand was building the second Bangkok international airport. He was appointed by the Ministry of Transport to be the Executive Vice President of the state enterprise (NBIA) that constructed the airport until completion. Then his career changed for the second time when the Thai government implemented a large scale project to grow rubber in the north and northeastern region of Thailand. He was appointed by the Ministry of Agricultures to be the Director General of the state enterprise (ORRAF) that implement the project. This was where he learnt about  bioplastics and conducted field applications with rubber planting. The rubber expansion project put Thailand’s natural rubber as the biggest producer. Natural rubber is Thailand’s first product champion.

After finishing his term at the state enterprise, he started Global Biopolymers to do business in bioplastics. He envisages that bioeconomy, in particular, bioplastics will be Thailand’s second  product champion following natural rubber.
