Looking for A-Zs of CBM production from Assessing CBM to drilling to completion?
With technology and geological knowledge advancing, Coal Bed Methane deposits now have a bigger share in the natural gas supply picture in Asia. However, using this ‘new’ unconventional natural gas source raises key questions including…
Are you seeking answers to these questions?
Then you must plan to attend the CBM Production Techniques Workshop in Jakarta!
CMT’s CBM Production Techniques workshop on 5-6 November 2009 in Jakarta INDONESIA provides a step-by-step guide to coal bed methane production, and addresses the growing need for technical understanding and expertise to manage Asia’s CBM resources.
The workshop will examine pertinent issues relating to the coal bed methane (Coal Mine Methane/ Coal Seam Gas) production value chain, and offer a valuable learning experience, where insights & information received will transfer well to the workplace!
Coal Bed Methane experts from US Geologic Survey & Lucas Drilling Services teach & share insights for Asia's CBM sector at workshop.
Two leading CBM experts who collectively have over 50 years of experience in the Coal Bed Methane industry will lead the CBM Production Techniques workshop.
Our first workshop leader, Dr. Romeo M Flores has over 35 years of experience in coalbed methane (CBM), coal geology and reservoir/resource assessments. Dr. Flores works with the US Geologic Survey (USGS), and has worked on assessing CBM potential in the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains and Alaska.
He also provides official intergovernmental consultation and technology transfer to assess CBM in Colombia and the Philippines.
To date, Dr. Flores has conducted CBM lectures and workshops in Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, and United States. He has also authored over 300 articles and reports and edited 15 special publications and books covering Coal Bed Methane.
Our second workshop leader, Doug Henderson is Manager of Engineering Services at Australia’s Lucas Drilling Services, where he supervises the engineering team who design, survey and steer directional drilling project boreholes for Lucas Operations. As Manager since 2005, Doug Henderson has overseen significant upgrades to engineering capability and operational support mechanisms for his division’s continuing growth.
Doug Henderson’s extensive experience in CBM spans directional drilling guidance techniques and systems, electronic systems, design installation, fault diagnosis and repair, operations and R&D.
Dr. Romeo M Flores and Doug Henderson add unparalleled value to the CBM Production Techniquesworkshop, as they bring their wealth of experience and technical knowledge into the classroom for two very intensive days of learning.
Valuable learning on CBM potential, drilling, recovery & completion.
The CBM Production Techniques workshop provides participants with a wealth of knowledge on CBM prospecting, and drilling, and addresses key strengths and weaknesses in the process to improve their understanding of CBM development criteria and the CBM production value chain.
Dr. Romeo M. Flores will lead Day 1 of the workshop, which concentrates on “Assessing CBM and Managing Co-Produced Water Resources”. Dr. Flores’ sessions offer extensive coverage on:
--> CBM Basics & U.S Models
- What is Coal Bed Methane and where does it come from?
- What are the different types of CBM?
- Conflicting ownership of CBM between coal and gas industries.
- Review CBM Production from various coal ranks.
- Pinpoint geological and hydrological factors for CBM assessment
--> Methodologies of CBM Assessment and Coal Bed Methane Exploration
- Coring methods to assess coal reservoir properties and gas volume
- Gas content measurement for assessing gas-in-place resources
- High-pressure methane adsorption to assess gas holding capacity and saturation of coal reservoir
- CBM resource assessment methodology
- CBM reservoir properties
- Two-phase gas and water flow with dewatering CBM wells
--> Water Management- Dealing with sub-surface CBM Co-Produced Water
- Assessing volume of co-produced water from CBM wells
- Analyze quality of co-produced water
- Environmental regulations
- Surface and subsurface disposal of co-produced water & viable alternatives.
- Challenges in management of co-produced water
Doug Henderson will lead Day 2 of the workshop, which concentrates on “Effective Methods of CBM Drilling & Completion” and will touches on the different techniques employed in CBM Drilling and Completion. Doug will apply his extensive experience in directional drilling to address different drilling techniques, and highlight pros and cons in drilling and completing CBM wells. Topics on the agenda include:
CBM Production Techniques workshop facilitates networking and exchange of perspectives between regulatory and commercial players in Asia’s Coal, Oil & Gas Sector.
Your classmates at the two-day CBM Production Techniques workshop will include top executives, CEOs, MDs and Researchers and Regulators in the Asia’s energy sector, including:
and other key industry executives who want to know more about the Coal Bed Methane CBM production value chain.
CBM Production Techniques offers focused learning & high value insights, so make sure you don’t miss out on the most important CBM workshop in 2009!
The CBM Production Techniques is part of the CBM World conferences held annually in Jakarta. CBM World has welcomed participants from over 30 countries at the crucial meet, and made its mark as one of the key events in the annual CBM calendar of events.
Our workshop leaders Dr. Flores & Mr. Henderson deliver relevant & up-to-date information in 14 critical sessions to ensure optimum benefits for all participants!
The reviews, discussions and project sharing sessions between industry peers will contextualise your learning to your workplace realities, and help you transfer this knowledge to your workplace.
