Mark leads advanced Research labs across 5 sites within the Asia region (Japan, Korea, China, India and Singapore) responsible for the development of new cosmetics actives for all categories of products in the L’Oreal portfolio and for new scientific discoveries in the field of biology, chemistry material science and biotechnology focused on Asian beauty needs.

 

Since his entry into the company in 2013, he has also concurrently led the Asia Business Development team, that is responsible for sourcing and negotiating the business models of new innovative external R&D collaborations with organizations of all sizes (from startups to other MNCs) and for building up L’Oreal’s Open Innovation strategy in Asia.


Before L’Oreal, Mark had more than 10 years industry experience in the biotechnology and Pharmaceutical sectors, having worked in the past as the VP of R&D at Curiox Biosystems, a successful Singapore based Startup Company in diagnostics & microfluidics and as a Group Leader in Oncology Drug Discovery & Systems Biology with the American Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co based in their Singapore Research Center (Lilly Singapore Center for Drug Discovery).


Mark graduated with a double degree in Bioengineering and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in the USA, followed by a PhD in Pharmacology from the National University of Singapore and finally an MBA from INSEAD in France/Singapore.
