He joined Alpek Polyester, then DAK Americas / Akra Polyester, back in 1990 in several operations and manufacturing roles, in 1996 he started his commercial experience in the polyester staple business, then in 2007 he developed the Purchase for Resale Business Unit which implied the development of Asian suppliers for specialty fibers and its further commercialization in US, Mexico, Central and South America. In 2012 he was transferred to US to manage the RPET business Clear Path Recycling. Since 2015 Fernando is Commercial Director for Resin Business for Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and  Colombia.

He is the CEO and co-founder of Green Impact Plastics SA de CV, a unique operation located in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, designed and engineered by himself and his brother Juan Pablo to process PET thermoform containers.

 

Green Impact Plastics is the first of several plants that Victal will build to help divert this material that currently goes to landfills and that represents over 1.6 billion lbs. annually in the US and Canada and around 240 million lbs. in the state of CA. In 2019 he took a position in Los Angeles, CA as rPlanet Earth Sustainability Director. Octavio has for over 10 years actively participated in trade associations including APR and NAPCOR and has been recognized in several industry publications as a PET recycling entrepreneur set to solve hard to recycle streams like thermoform containers. Green Impact is also US Plastic Activator set to reach the roadmaps goal of recovery at 50% for non-beverage PET containers by 2025. Victal also seats in the advisory board for the National Stewardship Action Council.

He worked in industry before moving to the United Kingdom, to do his Ph.D at the University of Cambridge.  During his doctoral research and subsequently as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, he developed the basis of the Enval process to recycle plastic aluminium laminate pouches, sachets, tubes, etc.

 

As a result, Carlos founded Enval where he is CEO. The Company now has a commercial plant recycling laminates in the UK and is in the process of installing further units in other locations. Enval has also started to develop recycling processes for other materials, creating a link between the packaging world and the waste handling sector.

His professional experience is primarily in the supply chain holding various executive roles for global companies such as Schneider Electric, DANONE and currently ALPLA. The latter, focused on plastic packaging solutions,   where he holds the position of Regional Director of Procurement  and Sustainability for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

 

Humberto has had a very active role in recent years for various sustainable projects. One of them is the incorporation of resins with recycled content, the use of biomaterials and the implementation of circular economy projects, such as recycling. Key point for the fulfillment of its circularity objectives, where it has led the opening of collection centers for PCR bottles, as well as the opening of  recycling plants. Today,  he  actively participates in different associations focused on boosting recycling collection rates.

After working as an engineer in the automotive industry he joined EREMA in 2001 and was responsible for automatization of large, mainly PET- Recycling plants. All along more and more Polyester sparks his interests and so he assumed control of the PET recycling plants, the so called VACUREMA in the year 2007 as Product Manager. Since then he was responsible for product development, technical sales and customer care in this application field.

 

Meanwhile, with more than 20 years of experience in the plastic industry he is member of PETCORE (PET Container Recycling) Europe since 2007 and represents the Recycler’s interests in the Board of PETCORE since 2011.

 

In 2014 EREMA- Group introduced the new Business Development Department where Christoph strategically steers in total 7 companies / Business Units in his Application “Bottle”.

Mr Padilla is Chief Economist and Managing Director of Economic Research and Macro Strategy at Grupo Financiero Banorte, the second largest bank in Mexico. He has been part of Banorte’s team for the last 12 years. Previously, Mr Padilla worked for more than 3 years at J P Morgan Chase as emerging markets strategist, based primarily in the Mexico City office. He has also worked in the financial sector in areas related to treasury and IR.


He obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from University of Stellenbosch, together with an Honours degree (graduate level) in Financial Economics from the same institution. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from ITAM in Mexico, a Corporate Finance diploma from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Managerial Training diploma from IPADE Business School. On the academic front, Mr Padilla has lectured in the MBA program at Universidad Iberoamericana and at several diploma programs about corporate finance and market economy at Tecnológico de Monterrey EGADE Business School, Universidad Anáhuac UNAM and Riskmathics. He actively participates in national and international publications, as well as in radio and TV specialized programs. His experience includes op eds for El Financiero, Bloomberg, IMEF’s newsletter, BMV’s blog, AMIB’s magazine and Forbes, among others.


He was awarded with the “Future Leaders” distinction in 2017 by the Institute of International Finance. Since 2020, he is part of the Economic Studies Committee from IMEF. He has dictated several conferences about economics and financial
markets in Mexico, United States, Europe and Asia.

Currently, she is responsible for designing and executing the regional Sustainability strategy for the company, with the aim of contributing to generating more resilient and sustainable businesses, that have a positive impact on the environment and society.


With more than 17 years of professional experience in the public and private sectors, Laila has specialized in strategic analysis and early detection of risks and opportunities to optimize the decision making o an organization in the economic, political, social and environmental ambience.


In the recent years, Laila has been associated with projects in the areas of Circular Economy, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. Her interest in these subjects has allowed her, since june 2021, to be part of Vida Circular, an educational and informative initiative to promote the Circular Economy of Plastic as the key to an economic, social and environmental solution for the benefit of current and the future generations.


As part of her career, she has worked in various consultancies, such as Laysoc, Integralia Consultores and Solana Consultores. From 2012 to 2016, she assumed positions in the Presidency of the Republic as Director of Analysis and Technical Secretary in the Deputy Head of the Office of the Presidency. Laila is politicial scientist and internationalist from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), with a master´s degree in Economics and Business from Universidad Anáhuac. In addition, she has several certificates in diploma courses.

Member of the Communication and Education Commission of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the SIDEL Advisory Board on Sustainable Packaging. 

 

Her professional work focuses on integral solutions that benefit society, business and nature. She is the Sustainable Development Analyst for Envases Universales PET division, where she leads the International Sustainability Working Group, champions the inclusion of the circular economy in the packaging business, oversees the reporting of ESG material topics, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation commitment and builds capacity for Envases PET to join the Science Based Targets Initiative in 2023.
