Since 2011, his vision for launching the first Plant-Based Seafood Alternative has manifested into a viable category innovation lauded by the press and social media thought leaders, as well as natural trade industry leaders. Eugene started his career in 1995, at a management consulting firm in New York City, shortly after earning his MBA from Columbia University, Columbia Business School, New York.

Christian Cadeo is currently the Managing Partner, Asia for Big Idea Ventures. Big Idea Ventures is a new alternative protein venture capital fund/accelerator based in New York and Singapore. It is anchored by investments from Temasek Holdings and Tyson Food (NYSE: TSN/Fortune 100 company). Prior to this Christian was a seasoned operator with experience in bringing US based startups to Asia. His first startup was at AdMob which was eventually acquired by Google for US$750MM. The second startup was JUST which has raised US$372MM from Founders Fund, Horizon Ventures and Eduardo Saverin. There he was the 1st employee in Asia-Pacific. Recently he was at Domo where he joined pre-IPO as the 1st employee in Southeast Asia. Domo had raised close to US$700MM from investors such as Benchmark, Jeff Bezo and TPG. The company IPO on NASDAQ in 2018. He also worked at Google and Microsoft.

Kenneth Wang is Senior application and customer technique support manager of Asia Pacific at TEREOS.

Based in Singapore, Kenneth is responsible for leading the Tereos R&D center in the region with team in Singapore and Customer technique support team in China to support business development particularly in food and Nutrition.

With more than 15 years of specialized experience in food application and customer technique support, Prior to Tereos, Kenneth was most recently the Roquette Head of CTS China and application laboratory manager for food and pharma.

Prior to Roquette, he spent 2.5 years holding roles product development specialist and manager in Yangshengtang for Nutrition supplement and confectionary products.

Kenneth holds a Bachelor of biotechnology degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Master of Food Science degree from Zhejiang University.

Thomas Hayes is an Analyst at Lux on the Emerging Ecosystems in Agrifood and Health team, specializing in food and nutrition. In this role, he advises clients how to capitalize on emerging technologies related to personalized nutrition, the gut microbiome, plant-based proteins, cellular agriculture, and more. Before this, Thomas was a member of Lux's Consulting team where he conducted project-based analyses for clients, largely within the food industry.

 

Prior to joining Lux, Thomas was a Research Associate at Cambridge Polymer Group where he conducted materials consultation.

 

Thomas received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University and is a Master of Business and Science (MBS) candidate at Rutgers University, concentrating in Global Food Technology & Innovation.

Brendan and his co-founders created Australian Plant Proteins (APP) in 2016 after identifying the significant role Australia can play in the supply of high-quality plant proteins to meet the increasing global demand for premium protein ingredients in plant-based food and beverages.

APP produces protein isolates from pulses (faba beans, lentils, chickpeas, mung beans) using a proprietary process which eliminates non-functional elements such as taste and odour to create a ‘clean’, great tasting protein suitable for a range of food and beverage applications.

Brendan leverages 25 years of experience in the global commercialisation of Australian companies to lead APP’s sales and marketing activities.

Jian Yong is a PhD student under the supervision of Associate Professor Liu Shao Quan at the Food Science and Technology Department in National University of Singapore. He is also the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of a Singapore Food Tech Start-up called SinFooTech. Jian Yong’s research interests are food fermentation and food waste management. His current PhD research focuses on converting soy whey or tofu whey into a first-of-its-kind soy whey alcoholic beverage that he named Sachi. He founded his own team in 2018 to bring the technology from the lab to the market.

Ramesh Krish Kumar is the Founder and Managing Director of Asmara® (by NU3x Asmara Pte. Ltd.). He currently oversees the company’s product development, marketing, sales, and business development capabilities. As a food scientist, he has worked for more than seven years in the area of product development, herbalism, nutrition research, and glycemic index while developing more than 35 functional food products in 2018. He has also lectured and tutored local diploma students in “Food Chemistry” and “Biochemistry & Physiology for Nutrition” during his employment with Temasek Polytechnic.

Ramesh graduated with a Bachelor (Hons.) and Master of Food Technology (Dist.) from Massey University (New Zealand) and Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition from Temasek Polytechnic.

He is also the founder of one of social media's largest food science and nutrition platforms: "Food Myths Page" and "Food Science, Technology & Nutrition Group" with more than 65,500 members worldwide. Dr Manish Shukla has over 17 years of experience in contributing and leading various research and commercial areas of Biotechnology.  Before Joining Reliance, Dr Shukla worked as a Senior Scientist in TIFR, Mumbai establishing various protein analytics platforms and researched on various aspects of Algal stress metabolism, thus richly contributing to key understandings on live cell changes during growth. This was accompanied by high impact publications in various internationally renowned journals in the area of Algal Biology. During his PhD from MSU Vadodara and Postdoctoral studies at Louisiana State University, USA, under the aegis of the  NASA NSF, he added deep understanding in the areas of bacterial radiation resistance and their potential to Mars survival.
In Reliance R&D he has established platforms to develop robust understandings on the metabolomics and proteomics of Algae, to harness and optimize their productivity for commercial use. Further Dr Shukla is driving the potential of Algal technology proficiency at Reliance R&D for various food and Ingredients segment. Currently he is heading the efforts for the synthetic biology based innovation and development to commercialize Algal protein and other ingredients as a sustainable alternate to business and society.

Mr. Henk Jaap Meijer is director and owner of Meijer Consult. He graduated in 1988 from State University Groningen in the Netherlands with a degree in Polymer Chemistry. During his career he has received several marketing programs.

Mr. Meijer has worked at AVEBE, the global market leader in potato starches, during 13 years on development of modified starches and potato based side stream products for food and technical applications. At BASF Plant Science he was involved in the development of applications for AMFLORA® amylopectin and high-amylose starches from genetically modified potatoes. From 2007 till 2014 Mr. Meijer worked as Director Marketing & Innovation at Emsland Group where he was responsible for amongst others product development and market introduction of the Empure® range clean label starches and dehydrated potatoes.

Meijer Consult develops innovations for the cassava, potato and starch modification and - processing industry. Clients are located in Europe, South East Asia, South America and Africa. With focus on starch modifications, food-fibre and protein production they support clients with their product development, application research and market introductions.

Mr. Meijer founded the LinkedIn CASSAVA group with more than 1.300 members worldwide. Daily cassava news and background information are a resource for the global cassava industry.
