She started her career in the R&D Division, where she held several positions, from researcher and project manager to head of a division of 150 engineers, all dedicated to the introduction of new IT technologies in power plants. From 2001 to 2005 she worked in the Purchasing Division, and was in charge of the first cost reduction program within EDF Group. In 2005 she became the executive assistant to the Group CFO before becoming in 2008 head of Internal Communications for the EDF Group. In May 2009, she was appointed Vice President in charge of the development of new nuclear projects worldwide. In July 2015, she became the Senior Vice President Africa & Middle East. From June 2018 she is Senior Vice President Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Balkans.

He is currently serving as a Principal Program Officer Renewable Energy and heads the Bioenergy Program in ECREEE He holds a Masters degree (M.Sc.) in Renewable Energy and the Environment from the University of Reading, UK.

He was also the founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies (CSET) at the university of Nottingham’s campus Ningbo China. Jo is one of the leading experts in energy systems with considerable years of research, teaching and industrial experience. Prof Darkwa has published widely and also undertaken number of major research/consultancy contracts for the UK Government, EU, China and the private sectors. He has organised a number of International Conferences/Symposia and given keynote addresses in energy related topics. He has chaired several sessions at the International Energy Conversion Engineering Conferences (IECEC 2002-2014), International Symposium on Low Carbon Buildings (2010-2012), International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (SET 2014), Advanced Thermal Energy Storage in Phase Change Materials, International Energy Agency (IEA)- (2001-2005).

He was appointed in 2005 as a member of the European Union Energy Management Expert Advisory group for six EU ascension Western Balkan Countries to organise number of seminars and workshops about energy policies and regulations for officials from those countries. He has been a consultant/advisor to organisations such Tarmac plc. (Thermodeck), UNDP, London Underground, CIBA Ltd, United States Gypsum Company and Certain Teed Corporation, USA in related research projects. In 2004, he was honoured by the Terrestrial Energy Systems Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as a Distinguished International Energy Research Coordinator in recognition of his contribution towards IECEC activities and in 2007 received another prestigious award for Technical Excellence in energy conversion engineering systems from the AIAA.

Zambia has all it takes to be the hub of the biofuels industry in Southern Africa. Emmanuel Mbita has been championing the use of renewable energy technologies to produce products in order to mitigate the global climate change. The green economy offers alternative sources of energy (fuel, power generation, gas, income, fodder, fertilizer, job and wealth creation. These efforts by Emmanuel has seen the mushrooming of Biofuels players coming on board. With the blending technology to be installed by Emmanuel Mbita’s team, the impact on the overall economy will be a significant one as there will be an import substitution of more than 30% in fuel.

Alternative Solid Fuel - Current Status & Prospects in Egypt & Africa

https://www.cmtevents.com/EVENTDATAS/190921/speakers/HishamSherif.jpgPrior to heading Tawazon, a core unit of Qalaa Holding, an African leader in infrastructure and industry, Dr. Hisham Sherif was the CEO of Engineering Tasks Group (ENTAG) and the Egyptian Company for Solid Waste Recycling (ECARU). He led both companies — which are now subsidiaries of Tawazon — in Biomass management projects (collection, transportation and treatment) for producing Biomass derived fuel (BDF), animal feed, and compost.

 

Dr. Sherif previously served as a lecturer in the Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering of Minya University. As a leading expert in local and international procurement laws and procedures governing licensing, imports and joint ventures he assisted over 30 municipalities in nine countries in upgrading MSW treatment and disposal projects. Furthermore, he helped direct planning, construction and operation of new MSW sorting, composting, and production of refused derived fuel (RDF) and landfilling projects across the region.

 

He has attended numerous national and international conferences in the field of municipal solid waste, biomass, alternative fuel and energy management and technologies. Dr. Sherif holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Chemical Engineering Department at Minya University, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, jointly supervised by Minya University and Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.
