During his many years of experience in the global forest products industry, he has held a variety of senior management positions, including CEO of NICHIHA USA, INC – Atlanta, GA, USA (Fiber Cement Siding Manufacturer) from 2001 to 2009; CEO of Sumisho-Mitsuibussan Building Products Co., Ltd. – Tokyo, Japan from 2009 to 2013; General Manager of the Wood Resources Business Department, Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo from 2013 to 2015 and General Manager of the Woodchip & Biomass Department, Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo from 2015 to 2018.

 

Currently located at Sumitomo’s office in Tokyo, he is responsible for the Cement Department, the Building Products Department, the Wood Resources Business Department and the Woodchip and Biomass Department, as Assistant General Manager of  Materials, Supplies & Real Estate Division, Sumitomo Corporation, Tokyo.

Enviva is a leading global energy company specializing in sustainable wood biomass and as the world’s largest producer of wood pellets, provides sustainable, low carbon heat and power, replacing fossil fuels. The company has a production capacity of over 4 million metric tons in operations and construction.

As Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Thomas leads Enviva’s Global Customer Development and Commercial Activities, Shipping, Portfolio Management, Government Policy and Sustainability initiatives. Thomas is also responsible for Enviva’s long-term contracting activities, which have a current backlog of 9 years and over $6 billion in sales.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria, and a Masters in Business Administration from The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at The University of Virginia. He currently resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two daughters.

Enviva owns and operates seven manufacturing facilities in five states across the Southeastern United States. The company exports its pellets through deep water marine terminals at the Port of Chesapeake, Virginia, the Port of Wilmington, North Carolina, the Port of Mobile, Alabama and the Port of Panama City, Florida.
