Mr. Dieter Billen

Dieter has advised the Myanmar government on sector reforms and liberalizations, including the telecom sector liberalization, which led to the entry of new operators in the country. He has also supported the government on large infrastructure projects and reforms in the power and oil & gas sectors.

In addition, Dieter has supported international firms in the electricity and energy sectors in their market entry and growth in Myanmar, including in renewable energy and mini-grids.

Before moving to South-East Asia, he started his career at Roland Berger in Europe, where he supported electricity firms on performance improvement and feasibility projects.

Mr. Tom Watters

He has lived and worked in Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Jordan, Malawi, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Switzerland, Thailand and the United Kingdom. He has been employed by Sumitomo Corporation since 2006 and directed teams in power plant acquisitions in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia. He spent 4 years in Australia as President of Summit Southern Cross Power and CEO of Bluewaters Power Pty Ltd. His current position is Business Development Director Asia Pacific, Global Power Business Division of Sumitomo Corporation responsible for development and investment in power generation projects in the Asia Pacific Region.

Jani Nurmi

Jani has a background in investment banking and management consulting with experience in M&A transactions of generation and transmission assets. Mr. Nicolas Leong

Based in Singapore, he has experiences in the power generation industry ranging from project management, developing sales projects to EPC sales for thermal power plants in the South East Asia region.

Nicolas is actively promoting our dual-fuel engine technology and LNG solutions in Myanmar which is Wärtsilä’s value proposition to the country’s growing need for electricity.

Prior to joining Wärtsilä, Nicolas held various business development and sales roles with Abengoa and Lanco International. Nicolas received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Honours from National University of Singapore.

Mr. Steve McBride

Steve has almost 3 decades of oil and gas sector experience spanning exploration, drilling, evaluation and production almost entirely in Asia Pacific.  His career commenced in the field in seismic acquisition in Africa followed by electric wireline operations in SE Asia.  He has over 15 years of experience in sales and business development, invigorating both mature and emerging markets.

Previously, Steve's most recent assignments were with a global oil & gas service provider based in Bangkok, where he was General Manager of a 6-country region for 4 years, overseeing more than 12 product service lines and almost 600 personnel.   Later he was a Global Account Director responsible for account management of several Asia Pacific head-quartered Operators, as well as 3 Majors across the region.  Steve commenced a consulting assignment with Parami Energy’s Upstream assets in early 2018 and was later appointed COO to oversee all Operations within the Group.

Steve originates from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and holds a BSc Degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland as well as an MBA from Imperial College London.  He has served on the SPE Thailand Board of Directors since 2013 and on the SPE Global Distinguished Lecturer Committee since early 2017.

Ms. Kate Lazarus

Kate Lazarus is the Team Leader of IFC’s Environmental and Social Advisory Program based in Yangon, Myanmar. She develops, manages and leads an advisory program on environmental and social standards in the hydropower sector in the Mekong Region (Lao PDR and Myanmar), Nepal and Pakistan. Prior to joining IFC, Kate worked for the CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food managing a program on advancing sustainable hydropower in the Mekong, coordinated the Mekong Program on Water, Environment and Resilience (M-POWER), consulted for Sinohydro, led IUCN’s Regional Water and Wetlands Program for Asia, and was a Regional Program Officer for Oxfam America. She has lived and worked in the Mekong and Himalayan Regions for eighteen years.

Dr. Win Myint

Mr. Win Myint has over 21 years of electric power sector, such as distribution and generation, negotiation of agreements and contracts, reviewing the Feasibility Study Reports.

With Bachelor in Engineering from Rangoon Institute of Technology in 1985, his career started as Assistant Engineer in the Myanmar's Electric Power Enterprise (MEPE), Ministry of Energy in 1996. He managed electricity distribution works and operation and maintenance works of small Hydropower Plants.  After five years, he was selected as a governmental scholar to study at Japan and became a Research Student in 2002. He holds Master Degree and Doctor of Engineering from Kobe University in 2008.

Now he is serving as a Deputy Chief Engineer at Renewable Energy and Hydropower Plants Department, Electric Power Generation Enterprise, Ministry of Electricity and Energy. Under Chief Engineer, He has been managing selling of electricity to Utilities, operation and maintenance of Hydropower Plants, negotiating new Power Purchase Agreements, monitoring the implementing of new Renewable Energy Power Projects and other related works of Enterprise and Ministry.
