Dr. Julian Conway Mcgill

He is in charge of research and business development for the ASEAN region. He and his team are based in Kuala Lumpur. A large proportion of his work focuses on palm and other vegetable oils  and their downstream products.


His main research interest is in understanding how growers and processors manage to achieve superior margins, despite operating in a commodity market.


Dr McGill holds an M.A. (Honours) in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and completed his PhD (DPhil) at the University of Oxford.

She has 19 years’ experience in the detergent industry. She has been working for Guangzhou Liby enterprise group for more than 14 years in research and development, spanning both core research and product development research in five categories, including fabric care, home care, insect repellant, oral care and personal care products.
 
She has built an R&D team for Liby group since 2004, from 14 people to more than 100 people today, which committed to the rapid growth of the company in the last 14 years.

Mr. Edi Wibowo has been the Director for Fund and Disbursement, Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP KS), Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, since February 2017.

 

He is responsible for Fund Disbursement of Palm Oil Fund for relating program based on Palm Oil. Prior to becoming Director of Fund and Disbursement at BPDP KS, Edi Wibowo was a researcher at the Research and Development Center for Oil and Gas Technology “Lemigas” since 1992, and, was Head of Sub Division for Facilitating Policy of Energy Utilization at Secretary General of the National Energy Council since 2009. In 2011 he became Head for Engineering and Environment of Bioenergy Division, Directorate of Bioenergy-MEMR, Since June 2015, he was Head for Bussiness services and Monitoring of Bioenergy  Division and  July 2016, he was Head for Program of Bioenergy Division, Directorate of Bioenergy- MEMR.

 

He received an Agricultural Engineering Degree from Bogor Agricultural University in 1991 and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Indonesia in 2002.

https://www.cmtevents.com/EVENTDATAS/180922/speakers/NorZahidiAlias.jpgNor Zahidi Alias is currently the Associate Director of Economic Research Division and Chief Economist of the Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC).  He started his research career in 1988 when he joined a market research firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Upon returning to Malaysia, he joined the research division in a major newspaper company, The New Straits Times Press, and later moved to the financial world, by joining a brokerage firm, Kuala Lumpur City Securities as an economist in 1996. 


Nor Zahidi often engages with policy makers such as the central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Ministry of Finance as well as with various associations and organizations to provide views on different policy matters. Nor Zahidi received his degrees in economics and economic policy from Boston University, Massachusetts, USA in 1986 and 1988.

David Ng is a Derivative Products Specialist with Phillip Futures . He graduated from University of Manchester with a Bachelor of Economics and Social Sciences. He currently does extensive research in commodities and indices which include Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) and Futures Kuala Lumpur Index (FKLI). David also does research on the Options markets. . David frequently comments on the Crude Palm Oil Futures market performance in media channels including Business Times and The Edge.

For the last 22 years,  he  is  with Godrej Industries Ltd.(Oleo chemicals & Surfactants )  & has handled responsibilities in various functions of supply chain, Sales & Marketing  & profitability improvement projects. He w as instrumental in developing business for oleo derivatives in India & created entry strategy for Godrej into Africa & CIS  markets.More recently, he was involved in designing & implementing Godrej’s  forward integration into value added derivatives.


At present he is leading the Surfactants business for Godrej Industries Limited

Mr. Syed Salim Syed Ali

Syed Salim, a Malaysian, is the Senior Vice-President and Head of Palm Downstream Cluster in Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGV). He is responsible for developing and adapting technologies for all business operations within the FGV group of companies.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, England. From the onset, he started his career as a Design Engineer and worked in this capacity for several multi-national companies such as Motorola and Balda AG. He joined FGV in 2009. In his current role, he identifies technologies, emerging or otherwise, develops and subsequently applies them to add value to business operations within FGV. He had, since then, filed 5 patents domestically and abroad in various areas of technology applications.

At the end of 2006, he was also one of the formation initiator of Indonesia Biofuels Producer Association and the Secretary General then one of the Chairperson. Teamed up with other sectors, the Associations carried out an active role to promote Biofuel including Palm Oil based Biodiesel

 

He is currently the Vice Chairman of Indonesia Biofuels Producer Association (APROBI) as well as Head of Finance & Investment Committee, Indonesian Palm Oil Board (IPOB)

Mr. Lee Ming Enn

Ming Enn is currently the Head of Physical Landscape and System Analytics of the Sime Darby Plantation Berhad (SDPB) reporting to Chief Sustainability Officer, He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science and an International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Management.


In his role, he is involved in:
• Identify future trends, risks and issues around environment and biodiversity conservation by engaging with stakeholders and participation in platforms, and also projecting Sime Darby in a positive manner
• Engage with leaders and senior management to ensure awareness and buy in to drive excellent environmental performance (carbon, water, waste) and biodiversity conservation related programs and projects to resolve issues and mitigates risks and impacts to business
• Work collaboratively with operations and potential partners to develop business case and design projects and oversee implementation of environment and biodiversity conservation programs and projects, and provide advise to operations to protect and enhance forest and wildlife, and minimize footprint
• Work collaboratively with operations to develop an integrated digital system to collect and consolidate data and maps, automate reporting, and allow enterprise-wide information-sharing enables company to gain a thorough, in-depth view of performance

 

Prior to this, Ming Enn started his career at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Since then, he has held various roles within environment health and safety – including stints in ABB, Conoco Phillips and Mondelez International, Asia Pacific.

 

Ming Enn has more than 20 years of experience in Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSE) with more than 15 years in senior managerial position in various industries including MNC Oil & Gas, Engineering & Construction, Manufacturing, Electrical, Power and Automation companies and FMCG, Food Manufacturing and Plantation, Property and Automotive industries.
