In 2001, Ziyad started his professional career with Arasco and lead its corn wet milling business from 2007 until 2012. Currently, and since its formation in Saudi Arabia early 2013, Ziyad is leading the Arasco/Cargill joint venture “Middle East Food Solutions Company” (MEFSCO). In addition, Ziyad is a board member in three different companies related to various fields from family business to food safety, build and construction material. Ziyad is also a former board member in Alkharj city chamber of commerce and a volunteer, as a cultural transformation tool consultant (CTT), with Alghad Values Center, part of Alghad Youth Association

Dr. Satyajit Karandikar joined his family business as 3rd generation entrepreneur in 2010. His grandfather, an oil technologist, was the first person to manufacture Tapioca Starch and derivatives in Mumbai region in 1960s.  Satyajit has grown up listening to Starch tales eventually developing interest in chemical sciences. In order to rightfully channelize his passion, he pursued his Masters in Chemical Process R & D from The University of Liverpool, UK. Later, he completed his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Italy after being awarded Marie curie fellowship of European commission. Satyajit Karandikar has a vision for his company to develop innovative starch and natural products to solve chemical needs in various fields, using green chemistry. Satyajit has a new start-up laboratory, “Karandikars Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd.” to cater to Pharmaceutical impurities market and to fuel innovations in Starch and Natural product chemistry

Dr. Fady Elassaad graduated from the University of Maryland with a Ph.D. Degree in Food Engineering along with a BS and MS degree in food science and engineering from the Mississippi State University. His area of academic specialization was in food processing, fruit juices and food safety. Frank Sarracino has been with Tate & Lyle for 30 years working in a variety of Research & Development roles. In his current role, Frank manages the technical service function for a number of Tate & Lyle's Global Accounts based in EMEA. Prior to joining Tate & Lyle, Frank spent 3 years working in product development at Leatherhead Food International. He is a qualified Food Technologist, having graduated from Southbank University in London.

Started as Shift Engineer at Amylum Nisasta in 2005 and was promoted to Wet Mill Manager position in 2008.
In 2011 promoted to European Corn Wet Mill Team Leader position to drive continuous improvement within the plants. In 2012 he left Tate&Lyle and now he is working for local starch companies. He installed and started a potato starch plant for Konya Sugar factory.

Nadia Boudries-Kaci graduated from Polytechnic school of Algiers, Algeria in 2010 with a Degree in biotechnology and from Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, University of Liege, Belgium with a Degree in agronomic sciences and bioengineering in 2017. She has taught courses in biotechnology and chemistry and conducted several research projects related to the characterization of starches and their transformation. She supervises 4 Phd students who work on the characterization of new starches, production of sugar syrups from starches and elaboration of starch-based microcapsules.

Michael Radeloff

 

Dr. Michael Radeloff is a carbohydrate chemist from Hamburg University. He held several international management positions in the starch industry in R&D, Product Development and Marketing. Michael is currently the Senior Tutor for Technolgy Training Courses, a specialist training organisation providing in depth technical courses for industry both on line and in house. He also owns and runs a successful consultancy, Thales Consult,specializing in renewable agricultural raw materials, their derivatives and applications.

Bassem Barakat is Managing Director of Arab Sweeteners Company. At the age of 22 in the year 1994; Bassem Barakat was in the Paper industry as Mill manager in FLORA one of leading company in Egypt. He joined AMRICANA Group in 2005 as Deputy General Manager Egyptian Starch and Glucose Company (ESGC) then in 2011 and due to the good impact of his discussions to company he was selected to be the Project Managing director of the Cairo Poultry Group (CPG) in EGYPT; Therefore in 2014 when NAEEM holding decided to establish an new company in starch and glucose field Bassem Barakat was the perfect choice to be the Managing Director in order to achieve their goal of building the largest corn wet-milling in MENA region.

Mr. Simon Bentley

 

Simon has 18 years of experience analysing and understanding commodity markets. He is a director of Commoditia, an advisory business based in Singapore focussed on supporting investors in, and traders and processors of South East Asian commodities.

Previously, as a Vice President of Invenio, part of Olam International, Mr Bentley led the research for a macro commodity fund trading agricultural commodity futures using fundamental models. Before this, and as a Director of LMC International, Mr Bentley led for many years a team advising multinational agribusinesses, energy and chemical companies, as well as governments, on all aspects of carbohydrate and protein markets. Through many different assignments he has developed a deep understanding of the fundamental structural factors underpinning agricultural commodity prices, costs, trade and production, which he uses to help clients position themselves in the face of changing market conditions.

Mr. Harun Uluyol

Mr. Harun Uluyol was born in Germany but returned to Turkey for an education in International Trade and Business Development at Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir. He graduated at Chalmers University of Technology - Sweden with a degree in Environmental Engineering in a project that focussed on biogas production from household waste.

 

Mr. Uluyol started his professional career at Emsland Nisasta as Sales Engineer and Business Developer for modified (potato-) starches and dehydrated potatoes. He then moved to Thailand where he became Managing Director at Emsland Asia Logistics Co.. In this position he built a network with suppliers of modified tapioca and transferred know-how and technology to local Thai producers. Mr. Uluyol developed the Emsland Group tapioca business and established relationships with producers and agents in South-East Asia, China, Bangladesh and India. His main achievement was realization of a break-even situation within 9 months from start-up.

 

Mr. Uluyol speaks Turkish, English, Swedish, German and Thai and is Associate Member at the Thai Tapioca Starch Association in Bangkok. Recently he became managing Director at Agro by Nature, a distributor of food ingredients based in Izmir.

 

Agro by Nature distributes innovations, bridges between customers and principals and creates value for partners. Their staff are seasoned in food with extensive local market knowledge, supported by international teams from amongst others KMC the Danish potato starch manufacturer. Agro by Nauture's policy is to blend deep-seated Turkish traditions with a sense of innovation that is both responsive and perceptive.
