PROFILE

Paul Gbededo, a Fellow of the Polymer Institute of Nigeria has been  the Group Managing Director  / Chief Executive Officer of FMN since 1st April, 2013. 

Paul was educated at the Polytechnic of North London UK where he obtained Graduateship of Plastic and Rubber Institute and Associateship of National College of Rubber Technology in 1980, and holds MSc. Degree in Polymer Technology (1981) of Loughborough University of Technology, UK. 

An alumnus of Lagos Business School, Advanced Management Programme 3, Paul also attended an Executive Programme at Harvard Business School in 2013. 

Paul’s over 30 years career with FMN Group started at Nigerian Bag Manufacturing Company Plc (1982 – 1998). There, he acquired extensive experience serving in various managerial positions and rising to General Manager Production and became the first Nigerian Production Director in 1996. 

IN 1998, Paul moved as General Manager/Director in charge of Fertilizer Operations, a Division of FMN, pioneering development of the product, “Golden Fertilizer” the first choice of Nigerian farmers.

He also served as the pioneer General Manager/Director for Golden Pasta Company Limited, now a division of FMN – which has grown to become Africa’s biggest pasta plant. Paul attended Pasta Machinery Use, Maintenance and Operation at FAVA, Italy in 2005.


In July 2012, Paul was elevated to the position of Managing Director, Agro-Allied business with responsibility to implement FMN Group’s backward integration policies, programmes and initiatives. 

Paul, who has a keen focus on results, is fully engaged in mentoring career development of Nigerian Managers as well as expatriates.

Daisy Eresu is a Senior Agricultural Officer (Agronomy and Extension) and presently is Head Cassava Program in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and Project Coordinator Agriculture Technology Transfer Cassava Value Addition. Her mission is to transform subsistence cassava production to a commercialized, profitable and sustainable sub sector to improve food and nutrition security, household income and exports on the domestic and regional markets. She has worked on several Cassava projects since 2005 and has seen budget allocation to an “orphaned commodity” increase from government and development partners favorably support cassava processing at community and industrial level. Daisy is a Board Member of Uganda Tea Development Agency Limited (UTDAL), she does consultancy work and enjoys working with grass root Home Economics/Family Life Education programs.

Makarand is a business development professional at Praj Industries - a global leader and supplier of ethanol technology and manufacturing plants. Makarand holds a degree in Petrochemical Engineering and Master’s degree in Business Administration from University of Pune, India. With industry experience spanning close to 15 years, Makarand has worked along a wide spectrum of ethanol industry – from proposal engineering & establishing an ethanol plant to sales & business development in regions like India and Africa. He possesses the techno-commercial acumen on the African ethanol industry.

Makarand has represented Praj at various events organized by FO Licht, IBC Informa, All India Distillers Association (AIDA), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), to name a few. In addition, he is an avid traveler and sportsperson.

PROFILE

As Director, Mr. Flor oversees the Foundation’s YieldWise Initiative which aims at promoting market-based solutions and innovations to increase efficiency of priority value chains to reduce post-harvest losses by half. 

Mr. Flor has two decades of progressive work experience in international and development institutions, academia, and the private sector. He has worked in sub-Saharan Africa, North America and Latin America. 

Before joining the Rockefeller Foundation, Mr. Flor was a Senior Program Advisor in the Office of the Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. Mr. Flor has held positions with Armajaro Trading, the MDG Centre West and Central Africa, the United Nations Development Programme, Columbia University, and Escuela Agricola Panamericana, Zamorano. 

Mr. Flor has served as a member of the World Food Programme’s Working Group on Productive Safety Nets, World Food Programme’s Latin America and the Caribbean Knowledge Sharing Steering Committee to Support Hunger Eradication, Peer Reviewer of the 2006 Environmental Performance Index, and member of the United Nations Millennium Project Task Force on Hunger. Mr. Flor has several academic publications
 
Mr. Flor holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University and an Agricultural Engineer degree from the Escuela Agrícola Panamerica, Zamorano (Honduras).

After finishing her study Chemical Engineering at Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), Dewi joined Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia, a market leading- building chemicals producer and plastic compounder.

Starting in an R&D function, she obtained an MBA from Prasetya Mulya Business School (Indonesia) and ended up being Vice General Manager before moving to The Netherlands.

Born into a South African farm family 62 years ago, Louw’s first career was in the law followed by 21 years in international finance, first for Citibank and then the South African banking giant ABSA. Louw left institutional life in 2000 to pursue a 3rd career as an entrepreneur which led him to Nigeria where he and his wife, Tukie, founded the cassava pioneer company Thai Farm in 2006 (https://www.tfinigeria.com/). This business was finally sold to the Nigerian food giant, FMN Plc in 2016. Louw currently consults in agric while pursuing his vision of a million ton a year cassava to syrup operation across 10 countries in Africa.

PROFILE

Nhamo Nhamo (PhD) is a research Agronomist whose career interests are to develop and disseminate innovative crop production technologies for wide adoption by farm families in Africa. He has vast experience (over 20 years) working on technical innovations which contribute to the reduction of yield gaps in cassava, maize and rice systems. His work directly contributes to integrated soil fertility management, soil health, use of ICT in agriculture, development of decision support systems, crop simulation modelling, climate adaptation and sustainable agricultural intensification. Dr. Nhamo has published on these subject areas. He is involved in capacity building, supports crop value chain actors, youth agripreneurs and innovation systems which directly benefit smallholder farmers. Currently, Dr. Nhamo works on crop production systems and is based at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture offices in Lusaka.

Solomon Oladele graduated from Department of Physics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined Psaltry International Company as Shift Officer in 2013. In 2014, he was promoted to head the Safety/Reseach Department in 2014 where he initiated the study and  documentation for safety and good Manufacturing practices for the starch/flour factory and developed 5whys and 5S analysis to solve food safety problem; he also began the documentation for ISO certification for the company; and started research for company expansion into other starch derivatives like Fructose, Maltose and Glucose. He rose to become the Production Manager in 2016 managing more than 70 staff including 10 shift managers. He has attended several trainings on Safety, Mechatronics, boiler management, planned maintenance, quality management and control, Total Productive Maintenace, Instrumentation and Control etc. He is Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Point(HACCP) and Good Hygeine Practice(GHP) certified.

Holding a Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics and a Masters Degree in Geo-Information Systems, and with 29 years professional experience, Likando Mukumbuta is one of Zambia’s foremost development practitioners.
Currently serving as Director General at the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) since 2012, Mr. Mukumbuta has been the thought-leader and chief strategist in transforming Zambia’s flagship economic empowerment programme into the home-grown inclusive industrialization force it is today. Before joining CEEC, Mr. Mukumbuta served in international development institutions where he headed two project management consulting firms as Chief Executive Officer for a decade. Before this, he served as Mission Economist at USAID/Zambia for 5 years. Earlier in his career, he worked as an economist in Government and as a portfolio head in a non-governmental humanitarian assistance organization.
In his career Mr. Mukumbuta has facilitated investment capital for more than 6,500 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Zambia, creating more than 40,000 jobs.

Mr. Brighton K.Mulonga is the Chairperson for Zambia National Cassava Association(ZANACA) and Director at Amazing Foods and Feeds Ltd.
He specializes in Poultry Sciences and Animal Nutrition and Feed Milling Technologies.
He has previously worked for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as Project Manager/Consultant in the area of Enhancing Food Security in Cassava Based Farming Systems for Malawi and Zambia, Cassava Facilitator East and Southern Africa(ESA)for All Agriculture Commodities for Africa (European Union Fund) A member of the UN team on Private Sector Development (PSD),  FAO-Aqua Feed Specialists in Uganda and in Rwanda, Managing Director Perfect Milling Ltd and former Quality Assurance Manager -Tiger Animal Feeds.
He has over 30 years experience in the agriculture sector in areas of production, Agro-processing, Laboratory Analytical Services, Agri-Business, Management, Imports and Exports, Advocacy and Environmental Impact Assessments.
He chaired the Technical Committee that set Zambian standards for Cassava Flour and Cassava Chips under the Zambia Bureau of Standards, Supported the Development of National Cassava Strategy under FAO, ITC and Ministry of Agriculture. He now seats on the CEEC Steering Committee in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Steering Committee of E-SAPP and S3P Programs supported by IFAD and the Ministry of Agriculture.
He successfully used cassava in animal feeds commercially in Zambia, Cassava for glue and Biscuits.

PROFILE

Professor Thomson Sinkala, a PhD holder, is a mining engineer by qualification and a biofuels practitioner. He is CHAIRMAN of Biofuels Association of Zambia. He is the winner of the 2011 Mwape Peer Awards on Research, for providing guidance in research in the field of biofuels in Zambia.

 

He has undertaken consultancy work on bioenergy for various high profile clients including International Labour Organisation (ILO) / Business Development Services (BDS), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the World Bank. He has been called upon internationally for various tasks including expert speaker, technical adviser, and contributor to major publications on biofuels. Some of his contributions to publications on biofuels include "Food versus Fuel - an informed introduction to biofuels", Frank Rosillo-Calle and Francis X.
