U Than Myint attained his B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) degree from Yangon Institute of Technology in 1963 and Master of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) degree from University of Waterloo, Canada in 1974.U Than Myint is retired Deputy Chief Engineer of Myanmar Railways and Past President of Myanmar Engineering Society. He is serving as Chairman of Committee for Quality Control of High-rise Building Projects (CQHP) and also Chairman of Myanmar Board of Engineers (MBE). The Myanmar National Building Code (MNBC) Development Project is led by U Than Myint and the Provisional MNBC is excepted to come out at the end of 2012.
