The Central Java administration aims to replace plastic packaging with bioplastics. It is considering a policy overhaul to encourage wider bioplastics adoption.
One local company that produces bioplastics using cassava peels as feedstock is Sinar Jaya Plastindo. The cassava based bioplastics are environment friendly and they decompose within a week.
The company has distributed these bioplastic packaging to hospitals as well as shopping malls and shopping centers to help popularize the product.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has welcomed the bioplastics development.
