Mr. Henk Jaap Meijer is director and owner of Meijer Consult. He graduated in 1988 from State University Groningen in the Netherlands with a degree in Polymer Chemistry. During his career he has received several marketing programs.

Mr. Meijer has worked at AVEBE, the global market leader in potato starches, during 13 years on development of modified starches and potato based side stream products for food and technical applications. At BASF Plant Science he was involved in the development of applications for AMFLORA® amylopectin and high-amylose starches from genetically modified potatoes. From 2007 till 2014 Mr. Meijer worked as Director Marketing & Innovation at Emsland Group where he was responsible for amongst others product development and market introduction of the Empure® range clean label starches and dehydrated potatoes.

Meijer Consult develops innovations for the cassava, potato and starch modification and - processing industry. Clients are located in Europe, South East Asia, South America and Africa. With focus on starch modifications, food-fibre and protein production they support clients with their product development, application research and market introductions.

Mr. Meijer founded the LinkedIn CASSAVA group with more than 1.300 members worldwide. Daily cassava news and background information are a resource for the global cassava industry.

Mr. Simon Bentley

Simon Bentley

Simon has 18 years of experience analysing and understanding commodity markets. He is a director of Commoditia, an advisory business based in Singapore focussed on supporting investors in, and traders and processors of South East Asian commodities.

Previously, as a Vice President of Invenio, part of Olam International, Mr Bentley led the research for a macro commodity fund trading agricultural commodity futures using fundamental models. Before this, and as a Director of LMC International, Mr Bentley led for many years a team advising multinational agribusinesses, energy and chemical companies, as well as governments, on all aspects of carbohydrate and protein markets. Through many different assignments he has developed a deep understanding of the fundamental structural factors underpinning agricultural commodity prices, costs, trade and production, which he uses to help clients position themselves in the face of changing market conditions.

Mr Bentley is a graduate of Trinity College, Oxford University and the London School of Economics

Lief has 10 years working experience in agriculture-related industries. Before joining Rabobank, Lief was the Senior Market Analyst & Project Manager in Business Development Department, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) since 2011, participating in a series of Greenfield projects and M&A deals in China. Prior to that, as an ex-employee of Rabobank, he worked as FAR analyst and Information Officer from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, Lief used to work for Frost & Sullivan, as the industry analyst and consultant, focusing on Chemicals, Materials and Food industries.

Jonathan Newby

Dr Jonathan Newby is an agricultural and rural development economist with over 10 years' experience working in Southeast Asia on a range agricultural development and livelihood projects. He holds an honours degree in Natural Resource Economics and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Queensland, Australia. Since 2013 he has worked for the cassava program at the International Center for Tropical Agricultural (CIAT). He currently manages several projects on developing sustainable cassava value chains in Southeast Asia with activities in Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. He works as part of a multidisciplinary team identifying opportunities and constraints to enhancing livelihoods of smallholder cassava farmers through strengthening the linkages between farmers, industry, governments departments and research agencies.

Ernie became Head of Corporate Affairs of Nestlé Philippines in May 2015. In this role, he is a key driver of external relations, public affairs and leads the Creating Shared Value initiatives of Nestlé Philippines.
Shortly before taking on the post of Head of Corporate Affairs, he was appointed to lead the NESCAFÉ Plan, one of the most important CSV programs of Nestlé Philippines. The NESCAFÉ Plan aims to revive coffee farming in the country to drive self-sufficiency in local green coffee.
Ernie started his career in Nestle Philippines as a Marketing Trainee in 1978. In 1992, he was expatriated to the Nestlé Headquarters in Switzerland to work with the coffee and beverages team, and returned to the Philippines to head the Coffee and Beverages Department.
Ernie was appointed National Sales Director in 2000. He was again expatriated to South Africa in 2005 to handle projects for the ice cream business and then moved to Vevey, Switzerland to do work for the same business category. He returned to the Philippines in February 2007 to be the Business Executive Manager for the ice cream business and held this role until May 2012.
He has also been instrumental in key organizational initiatives such as leading the successful integration of the Wyeth Nutrition business into Nestle's operations.
Ernie holds a degree in law from the Ateneo de Manila University. He also completed the Program for Executive Development in IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Prof. Tai-Hua Mu received his PhD in Department of Utilization of biological resources, The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (1998) from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. After that, he completed postdoctoral research one after another in laboratory of Biochemistry and Food Technology, Montpellier university with Professor Jean Claude Cheftel and Laboratory of Food Chemistry for Wageningen University with Professor Harry Gruppen during 1999-2003 in France and the Netherlands. Then he went back to China and worked in Institute of Food Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences until now. Mr. Larsson started working full time in the family company in the end of 1979.
