James George

Dr. James George is currently serving as the Project Coordinator of All India Coordinated Research Project on Tropical Tuber Crops under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He is the chief executive for implementing tuber crop research programs in 18 State Agriculture Universities in India. He holds graduate and post graduate degrees in Agriculture (Agronomy) and obtained his Ph.D degree from the famous Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Joined Agriculture Research Service of India in the year 1986 and has about 26 years of research experience in tuber crop’s agronomy, their soil and water relations. During the course of research, he developed agro-techniques for cassava, yams, sweet potato and aroids. He has also developed “minisett techniques” for rapid multiplication of quality planting materials in all tuber crops other potato. Minisett technology developed for rapid production of cassava planting materials has become very popular among farmers. He is also credited for the development of integrated nutrient package for the production of cassava and their impact on organic build up in the soil. He has over 100 research publications to his credit.
