Phantavong is currently obtaining his Doctorate Degree from Nong Lum University specialising in Ruminant Nutrition.

He obtained his Masters of Science ( Biology ) from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden
He has many years of professional working experience with private companies and government organisations in the field of poultry production, livestock systems and is currently with the Deparment of Livestock & Fisheries as the Deputy Director of Planning and Cooperation Laos
