“Tap Rising Opportunities in the Starch and Sweeteners Markets” “Meeting of Buyers & Sellers from the Mediterranean, MidEast, Central Asia & Caspian Regions” |
The Middle East region represents the highest growth area for the food and drink industry in the world. The rapidly changing demographics in the region and the growth of consumer choices presents an exciting opportunity for starch and sweetener, food ingredients suppliers to offer customers new and broader portfolio of products and solutions.
The region presents an attractive opportunity for destination processing. However it is faced with key challenges –
In December 2016, ADM announced new grinding capacities in the region.
We continue to see substantial opportunities for starch-based ingredients in Europe and Middle East markets, and, with these expansions, ADM will be well-positioned to meet growing customer demand across the region,” said Pierre Duprat, President, ADM Europe, Middle East and Africa.
CMT has carefully put together a panel of starch producers active in the region, consultants and process solutions providers to come together in Dubai on the 27-28th of March and share key developments happening in the region. |

USA’s Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is all set to expand into the lucrative sweetener and starch market in the MENA region when it started operations at its Casablanca’s sweetener plant last year.
The venture started off early in 2016 when ADM acquired the Casablanca corn wet mill plant from Tate & Lyle (TATE.L). The plant produces glucose and native starch.
The plant is already an established sweetener and starch supplier in Morocco – with further hopes of growth. Via this plant, ADM plans to serve the Moroccan customers as well as gain access to the vast Mediterranean export markets. This expansion also allows ADM to introduce its wide range of food and feed ingredients to the Moroccan market.
Being one of world’s largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers – ADM has 428 crop procurement locations, 280 ingredient manufacturing facilities, 39 innovation centers.
More about starch and food manufacturing activities in MENA will be discussed at 2nd Starch World Dubai on 27-28 March, 2017 in Dubai.

Arabian Agricultural Services Company (Arasco) and Cargill formed a joined venture in 2013 – MEFSCO. MEFSCO is now expanding its operations with investments of SR550 million in Alkharj, Saudi Arabia.
MEFSCO plans to tap the growing food manufacturing industry in Saudi Arabia with its wide range of ingredients to food producers. MEFSCO’s plans to triple the corn-based starch and sweeteners production capacity of its existing plant with the new investment. The expanded capacity can enable MEFSCO to cater to both customers in the Kingdom as well as other countries in MENA. MEFSCO expects the expansion to help reduce dependency on imports.
MEFSCO is positive on Saudi Arabia’s investor-friendly business environment as well as for the entire MENA region for the growth of the food manufacturing sector. Arasco and Cargill have teamed up to offer differentiated food solutions for customers in the region.
Cargill Foods METNA Regional Managing Director Murat Tarakçıoglu said “we will create distinctive value by focusing on cost effectiveness, producing best in class products at low cost at the newly invested production facility in Saudi Arabia, continuous product supply and supply-chain solutions, innovation and total solution offering via providing Cargill product portfolio including technical service and application expertise.”
More about starch and food manufacturing activities in MENA will be discussed at 2nd Starch World Dubai on 27-28 March, 2017 in Dubai.
