Dr Pepper Snapple owned Grupo Peñafiel officially opened a $53.2 million bottling plant in Mexico. This is Dr Pepper Snapple’s fourth bottling plant in the Latin American country.
The new bottling plant, expanding across 25 acres of land, will manufacture PET bottles and mold preforms later.
Peñafiel will produce 200 million bottles a year at the new plant. Currently, PET preforms for the plant are shipped from the company’s Tehuacán plant. In the future, Peñafiel plans to produce the preforms at the same facility.
The facility consists of two production lines that has capability for blowing, labelling, filling and cap bottles. The plastics processing equipment at the new plant is provided by Krones AG.
Texas based Dr Pepper Snapple’s was founded in 2008 by Cadbury Scweppes plc. Peñafiel was founded by the Peñafiel family as a mineral water brand in Tehuacán in 1948. Cadbury Scweppes acquired Peñafiel in 1992.
Peñafiel’s popular brands in Mexico include Peñafiel mineral water, Squirt, DrPepper, Crush, Snapple, CanadaDry and Schweppes.
