JAC Motors begins use of VOC-free Powder Auto Body Coatings

In alignment with China’s endeavour to use VOC-free coatings as a definite move towards sustainability, paints and coatings manufacturer AkzoNobel, along with Chinese automaker JAC Motors, have pioneered the first use of VOC-free powder technology for automotive body coatings. Using powder coatings is a sustainable way of streamlining auto manufacturing equipment and processes, and ensures higher efficiency and fewer emissions.

 

As sustainability continues to gain increasing importance in China, JAC has been using the VOC-free powder on SLX truck bodies at their site in Mengcheng. The high-performance powder, which offers benefits such as minimising resource wastage and environmental pollution, allows Chinese automakers to meet new coatings standards and represents a major technological breakthrough in the coatings sector.

 

Given the successful use of the VOC-free body coatings, JAC is already planning its second powder coating line.
