Afrique Ciment (CIMAF), a subsidiary of Morocco’s Addoha Group, commissioned its plant in Cameroon recently.
The plant is located in industrial area of Bonaberi in Douala.
The plant has a cement production capacity of 500,000 tons per year. The first foundation stone of the facility was laid in 2012 and over CFA 20 billion francs have been invested in the project.
CIMAF sees the cement plant “contributing to the development of intra-African cooperation”.
Locally made cement bags with CIMAF insignias are sold in Cameroon and in the Central African region, strengthening the supply of the building material.
Cameroon also has other cement producers such as Cement of Cameroon (CIMENCAM) a subsidiary of the French group Lafarge and Dangote Group (DCM).
More on cement markets in Africa will be discussed at the 8th Africa CemenTrade Summit on 15-16 March, 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda.
