Yoma Strategic Holdings has ventured into agriculture and logistics sectors in Myanmar.
It has entered an MOU with Kokubu & Co., Ltd ("Kokubu") and FMI to venture into Myanmar's cold storage and logistics business. The partnership will help farmers with improved storage facilities for their agricultural produce and help them with seamless transportation within the vast agriculture industry in the country.
Under the MoU it is said that 2 key distribution centers will be built in Myanmar that will distribute agricultural, seafood and processed products via high-specification vehicles with chill and refrigeration capacity between the distribution centres and other principal cities and industrial parks within Myanmar.
50 percent of the Cold Chain Business will be held by Kokubu, 30 percent by Yoma Strategic Holdings and the remaining 20 percent will be held by FMI. An initial capital investment worth US$12 million is slated to be put into the Cold Chain Business. Further, the Group's interests in the Cold Chain Business is expected to be transferred to YALH.
