Asia Pacific photovoltaic markets forecast growth of 40% in 2012

Posted on : 15 May, 2012

Based on the NPD Solarbuzz Asia Pacific Major PV Markets Quarterly report, the Asia Pacific photovoltaic (PV) markets continue to rise, with a forecasted growth of 40% in 2012. With a 500% growth over 2010 levels and 48% over 2011 demands, China has emerged at the lead. Japan was the second largest market in Asia Pacific, followed by Australia and India in 2011. While in 2012, Japan is set to grow at 40%, and India to show strong growth with a market that is beginning to approach 1 GW. Thailand, Korea and Taiwan showed an additional 500 MW demand in 2011 which is expected to increase by 50% this year, and new emergent markets are expected in Malaysia and Philippines.

CMT’s 3rd Polymer Apps in PV to be held in Shanghai on 11-12 July, will not only offer a detailed analysis on the growth and challenges for Asia’s solar sector, to be presented by Ms. Minnan Wong, Solar Analyst from Bloomberg New Energy Finance but also other multi-facet topics related to global EVA markets, BIPV, and PV module recycling, breakthrough developments in polymeric properties to meet functional and performance requirements,  plus many more. The 1.5 day event also promises to be a  platform for module technologists, polymer material developers and research institutes to convene and discuss the commercial viability and innovations in polymeric properties in response to industry challenges.
