Vietnam’s soft-drinks double-digit growth, signals more PET resin consumption

Posted on : 11 Aug, 2010

Vietnam is the only country in SEA that has a higher beer consumption per capita than soft-drinks. However in 2009, the consumption of soft-drinks showed double-figure growth again. Multinational companies dominate the water marker. La Vie of Nestle is the best selling bottled water, followed by Aquafina (Pepsi) and Joy (Coke). The water market has the highest PET penetration, i.e. virtually 100% is bottled in PET. With this increase, Vietnam is expecting an annual consumption of 50,000t of PET Resins for 2010, with imports from Asia.
