China’s demand for dyes and pigments has been growing 7.3% over the past decade. Through the end of year 2008, demand will advance 12% annually. Output of dyes and pigments will increase 13% annually through 2008. www.Textile-info.com

According to Etonwood Pte Ltd, China’s annual production of inorganic pigments , mainly iron oxide in this instance, is estimated at over 400,000 tonnes. Over 50% of the production is exported and overall growth is expected to average 7% a year. There are over 100 organic pigment producers in China and more than 50% of the products are exported. Growth is expected to grow at over 10% a year, with even greater growth of specialty pigment products. What does this signify for pigment producers?

Chinese pigment companies are facing challenges as they upgrade to meet increasing demand for high quality products and environmental issues. How is the industry planning to respond to these challenges ? How is the growth in the end use segments for example, coatings, printing ink, plastic, paper, tinting and textiles impacting the pigment and dye industry?

India has been slated as a force to be reckoned with. Would the India pigment and dye industry pose any threat or opportunity for China ? Will this be a clash of the two Asian titans or will there be synergies as players capitalise on the strengths of the two markets?

Explore these issues and more at CMT’s conference on ‘China/Asia Pigments & Dye Markets’. The conference gathers a panel of experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by industry players.
