15th LAPET

Latin America PET Packaging, Applications & Recycling

28-30 Nov, 2017 - Mexico City, MEXICO

Marquis Reforma Hotel & Spa

"Next Innovative PET & RPET Applications & Towards Sustainability"

The Latin American region is experiencing phenomenal demand for PET conversion and packaging with their growing affluent middle class income population and consumerism patterns.

The changes in global supply and demand of polyester intermediates impose two scenarios for Latin America – is it helping or hindering the PET industry in this region?

15th LAPET explores and identifies innovative PET products and applications. The conference will also magnify the latest trends and opportunities in beverages and its differentiated packaging designs for consumers shopping online.

PET recycling soared 50% in 2016, and Mexico played a vital role as the largest recycler of PET plastic containers in the Americas, with recycled plastic amounted to 425,000 tonnes in that year. Recycling plants established in Mexico processed a little over 56% of the plastic, while the remaining was exported to mainly China and the United States for processing. Whilst this posed steady in the region, recycling has been heightened to another level, with the industry’s concerns on recycling of thermoformed packaging. What are the technological demands for recycling these forms of PET?

As the industry moves towards digitalization, companies are concerned if e-business has modified relationships in the supply chain. 15th LAPET continues to unveil new manufacturing and packaging trends and developments in PET resins conversion, recycling and many more. Do not miss this vital opportunity to network with key and strategic players and leaders in this region. Register your interest with grace@cmtsp.com.sg.

Grupo Peñafiel Inaugurates Fourth PET Bottling Plant in Mexico

Posted on : 27 Jun, 2017

Dr Pepper Snapple owned Grupo Peñafiel officially opened a $53.2 million bottling plant in Mexico. This is Dr Pepper Snapple’s fourth bottling plant in the Latin American country.

The new bottling plant, expanding across 25 acres of land, will manufacture PET bottles and mold preforms later.

Peñafiel will produce 200 million bottles a year at the new plant. Currently, PET preforms for the plant are shipped from the company’s Tehuacán plant. In the future, Peñafiel plans to produce the preforms at the same facility.

The facility consists of two production lines that has capability for blowing, labelling, filling and cap bottles. The plastics processing equipment at the new plant is provided by Krones AG.

Texas based Dr Pepper Snapple’s was founded in 2008 by Cadbury Scweppes plc. Peñafiel was founded by the Peñafiel family as a mineral water brand in Tehuacán in 1948. Cadbury Scweppes acquired Peñafiel in 1992.

Peñafiel’s popular brands in Mexico include Peñafiel mineral water, Squirt, DrPepper, Crush, Snapple, CanadaDry and Schweppes.

More about Mexico’s PET packaging and thermoforming market will be discussed at 15th LAPET (Latin America PET Packaging, Applications & Recycling) on 29-30 November 2017 in Mexico City.
