"New Wave of Growth, Investments &

Trading Opportunities"

"Turkey’s cement industry will probably grow this year after stagnating in 2012 because of a slowdown in the construction industry... Large infrastructure including highways, the Bosporus bridge and power plant projects will boost cement demand this year…"

- Jan 2013, Bloomberg Businessweek

"Saudi Arabia's King, HH King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued a directive to fund more cement plants and import around 10 million tonnes of cement in order to offset a shortage in the country."

- April 2013, Construction Week Online

Cement capacity and demand continues to accelerate in the GCC and Middle East countries as the construction sector is boosted by high volume of government projects. Countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia continues to consolidate and increase capacity to meet domestic consumption. Iran has moved to be the 3rd largest exporter of cement globally after China and India, exporting to as many as twenty-four countries including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Russia and Africa. The cement landscape in Iraq is also changing as new green-field cement plants sprouts out in the country, making it more self-sufficient. Whereas Maghreb countries – Libya and Egypt are recovering from the political tension as cement sector stabilizes, however not without internal challenges such as fuel shortage.

Overall, the Middle East cement outlook is optimistic for some countries and less for others. Gain a complete evaluation of the region’s cement sector and what can be expected next year!
