PT Timah’s future includes a big USD 18 million investment in mining project in Myanmar as well as a milestone of becoming the world’s largest tin producer once the project begins.

Securing the mining permit from Myanmar’s Energy Ministry earlier this month, Indonesian state-owned enterprise PT Timah has since sent directive messages of the exploration process to begin next year. The site is expected to produce 10,000 tons of tins annually, positively propelling the company to the top of the industry’s to-watch list in the next few years.

While investment plans of many competitors are still unknown, PT Timah’s dominance in the industry is clear. Being one of the pioneers to set foot into Myanmar’s mining scene, PT Timah is set to gain upper hand with its first-mover advantage.

More information on the mining industry in Myanmar, proposed amendments on the Mining Law Reform & Fiscal Regime and networking/partnership opportunities are available at the 2nd Myanmar Mining Summit.

As the government is veering the country towards greater democracy and economy liberalization, more investment opportunities are sprouting in Myanmar, increasingly drawing investors’ attention with opportunists already in the scene.

News about the highly-anticipated update on the  foreign investment law as well as mining law are set to attract even more investors over the next few years. Investors will see changes to the landscape of foreign direct investments and joint ventures, marking Myanmar as the new investment frontier to break into before it is too late.

A promising land of minerals plus vast oil and gas fields, Myanmar’s prominence as an investment ground with great returns is clear. Mining investments have already been seen pouring into the country, with China at the forefront and Canadian-based company, Centurion Minerals Ltd., being the latest player to enter the Myanmar mining scene focusing on gold mining and exploration projects.

Owing to unabated interest in the pursuit for latest or first-hand information on the amended laws and jurisdictions surrounding investments and Myanmar’s mining sector , CMT will host  the 2nd Myanmar Mining Summit this coming January. Officially supported and hosted by the Ministry of Mines, the 4 days summit expects to welcome more than 400 attendees to join its main conference, 1-to-1 business meeting with Ministry of Mines officials, pre & post conference workshops as well as the accompanying exhibition.

Even as details of conference agenda, workshop leaders and participating exhibitors are in the midst of being finalized, pre-registration is already open. To reserve delegate, speaker or exhibitor spots at this summit, register here. For further queries, please contact huiyan@cmtsp.com.sg.
