European PET markets will be flooded with excess supplies, although some suggest that it may keep away Asian suppliers, it also means that margins will be under further threat. | With the increase in PET supplies, the demand for PTA is estimated to grow by around 1 million tonne/year. New PTA plants are already planned for in Lithuania, Poland, Russia and one under study in Portugal. What is the impact on feedstock prices upon the start-up of these plants? PET capacity additions have also spurred investments in MEG plants. Prices for MEG are expected to drop as these new capacities come on stream in the MidEast and Asia. Leading PTA and MEG producers will analyse the supply and demand balance. | ||
